To show our approach, we choose the tool Captain. Captain is an open-source DevOps tool for cloud-native application lifecycle orchestration. It has been developed by our partner Dynatrace and donated to the open-source community. Captain integrates many existing tools via declarative specifications and an event-based communication mechanism. Shipyard is a language used to define multi-state delivery workflows. Service Level Indicators and Service Level Objectives specifications define service quality criteria. The evaluation of these service quality criteria decides whether the CD pipeline can move to the next stage or not. Captain’s artifacts are Jason documents. They conform to language specifications provided as Jason schemas.
