PRESENTATION. My name is Mauro and I’m 46 years old. My hometown is Vibo Valentia, but I spent most of my life in the Basilicata region. I currently live in Potenza with my family, which is made up of my wife, Maria, and our sons, Francesco and Matteo. Concerning my education, in 2002 I got a master's degree in animal science and later, in 2006, I also got a Phd in animal science. I've been working as a teacher since 2017. In particular, I've been working as a special educational needs teacher for the last three years. I am currently working as a special educational needs teacher in a first grade secondary school. In my free time I like to go out with my family. I also like reading, playing soccer, cooking, etc. Cooperative learning. Cooperative learning is an active educational approach in which students of mixed levels of ability work together in small groups in order to improve their learning experience and understanding of a learning subject. Cooperative learning promotes social interactions, positive interdependence, individual accountability, etc. peer tutoring. It is an active educational approach in which students assist, support and help their peers in understanding a learning concept. This approach can increase students’ attitudes to learning, their social and study skills, as well as their confidence, personal efficacy, responsibility and empathy. Flipped classroom. A flipped classroom flips traditional teaching methods, as what is traditionally done in-class is done at home, while what is done as homework is now done in-class. This model gives teachers more class time to address specific student questions, creating a more inclusive learning environment. At the same time, students can improve their confidence, personal efficacy, responsibility, task management, etc. CLIL. CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning. It is an approach where students learn a subject and a second language at the same time. In 2015 the Italian parliament approved Law 107/2015 in order to improve linguistic competences in English, also by using the CLIL. What do you think is most effective with students? I've been working as a special educational needs teacher for the last three years. Working as an inclusive teacher, I realized how important it is to respect and value the diversity of students, to remove any barriers that prevent students from learning, and to enable all students to take part in learning and fulfill their potential. What kind of apps do you use? In my opinion, one of the most important ways to promote inclusion is to use apps in a classroom setting. This offers many benefits for both students and teachers. In general, we can say that the use of apps can increase engagement, collaboration, and interaction. Besides, their use allows us to respect students’ different learning styles, thus offering a customized learning approach. As an inclusive teacher, I use different apps. Among them, there are: padlet, a virtual board which can be used to share information, images, audio or video files; learnigapps and wordwall, two apps thanks to which I can create different kinds of exercises; I currently use some text to speech apps to create audio files in English or French. These files are important to create some talking images which are very effective for promoting students' engagement in understanding a given topic.
