Welcome to Themis Technologies. In today’s video, we will discuss switching to a Global Talent Visa. Switching to the Global Talent Visa from inside the UK. You might be able to apply to change (‘switch’) to a Global Talent visa if you’re already in the UK on a different type of visa. Your partner or children will need to apply separately to switch their visa. They can either apply at the same time as you, or at any time before their current visa expires. You should apply before your current visa expires. Eligibility. To switch to a Global Talent visa you must be in the UK and have either: won an eligible award. proven that you are a leader or potential leader in one of the fields covered by the visa - this is also called getting an endorsement. When to switch? You must apply to switch to the Global Talent visa within 3 months of getting an endorsement. You cannot apply for the visa if the organization that endorsed you has withdrawn its approval. Who can switch? Those who have a visa in the following categories CANNOT switch from within the UK to Global Talent: Visitor. Short-term Student. Parent of a Child Student. Seasonal Worker. Domestic worker in a private household. Outside the Immigration Rules. If you wish to switch from Tier 2 or Skilled Worker to Global Talent, you should be aware of the conditions associated with your current visa. For example, supplementary employment may be permitted, but only in the same field as the sponsored role, for a maximum of twenty hours per week and outside the sponsored job's regular working hours. You will have to inform your sponsor of your supplementary employment. Switching immigration categories also involves consideration of the possibility of obtaining indefinite leave to remain (ILR). For example, suppose it is impossible to switch immigration categories, and it is necessary to leave the UK and apply for permission to enter. In that case, it could break the continuity of leave for ILR purposes. When applying for permanent residency, those with a Global Talent visa can combine their time in Tier 2 (General) and Skilled Worker categories. In the case of Tier 2 (ICT) and ICT visas, time spent on either of these visas cannot be combined with time on a Global Talent visa.
