As my colleague said, Vinča is the largest settlement from the Neolithic age, more than 7,000 years old. It is located on the right bank of the Danube, not far from Belgrade and is widely known for its exceptional archaeological value. The duration of the Vinča civilization is estimated at around 8,000 to 4,000 years BC. It was discovered back in 1908 by Professor Miloje Vasić, the first trained archaeologist in Serbia. - Since then, archaeologists have begun to uncover many new layers of civilization with great excitement. They found a large settlement which proved that there was a fortified metropolis here 7000 BC - It is believed that it was the center of the civilization of that time that spread across today's Bosnia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Macedonia and Greece. - In Vinci, a real wealth of various weapons and tools made of stone and bone, crockery, jewelry, many figurines and the remains of prehistoric houses were found. - The oldest literacy, calendar, metallurgy and the discovery of the wheel are part of Vinča culture, far before Assyria and Mesopotamia. -Most of the ancient Vinchan figurines are humanoid beings depicted with oval heads and huge eyes - which actually started the speculation about extraterrestrials. -Inhabitants of Vinča lived an urban way of life, very close to each other and they also liked to travel- It is almost certain that there was no war in Vinci for almost 2000 years. Because of all this, Vinča is considered one of the most advanced prehistoric cultures. - Something that is interesting is that the people of Vinča did not kill birds! It is assumed that this is because birds are predators of pests - insects and rodents. Even today, you will see an incredible number of birds, especially seagulls, when you look at the Danube.
