In line with Pipelines, Distribution, and Terminals Safety Improvement Program, The PD&T Customized Work Permit Training Program was developed as an additional training to complement the corporate work permit training programs with an ultimate objective, to further improve the work permit issuers and receivers’ ability, to recognize hazards and strengthen their behavior towards safety. The program was developed by collaborative efforts from PD&T professionals, industrial subject matter experts (SMEs), and Bayan International Training Institute SMEs. The development has considered the corporate work permit and hazard recognition training programs to set the foundation for this program while taking into consideration PD&T work permit challenges, common hazards, internal and external filed assessments findings in addition to lessons learned. The program is designed in 5 days with high focus in conveying the material delivery into hands-on learning experiences representing 85% of the program content. This includes utilization of several customized training aids such as PD&T Hazard Recognition Room, Physical Simulators, Virtual Reality (VR). Starting with PD&T Hazards Recognition Room, which represents 25% of the overall program. The room consists of 8 zones with 150+ common hazards. In this room, the participant will have the chance to Identify various types of hazards, and controls associated with common PD&T working activities. Exercise issuing Work Permit for different scenarios. Practice the utilization of required documents and Safety Handbook. Moving to the multimedia room, , which represents 20% of the overall program. The room consists of several customized scenarios and Lessons Learned based on PD&T field activities In this room, the participant will have the chance to Recognize the hazards for different sceneries. Practice the required WP types exercises for different case studies. Participate in interactive workshops related to Lessons Learned and WP Issuance. Moving to the VR room . The room consists of credible scenarios representing less than 5% of the program, yet it focuses in the construction safety in order to understand their hazards and control measures Moving to the Safety Simulators, where it represents almost 30% of the program. This includes more than 13 Safety Simulators focusing on transferring the knowledge into behavior. In addition to that, several scenarios were developed to be exercised in these simulators. Example of simulators are as follows: Mechanical & Electrical Isolation (LOTO). Confined Space. Scaffolding. PPE (i.e., Safety Shoes, Helmet). Arc-Flash. Electrical Panel. Pressurized Cylinder and hose rupture. The program equipped with pre-assessments, daily assessment, and post-assessment to engage the trainees throughout the entire program and gauge their learning level. Each participant will have a dedicated report highlighting the overall score, areas for improvement, and strengths.
