SLIDE 1 Option 1: The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana is a scheme launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals with the objective of making quality generic medicines available at affordable prices. The scheme was launched on September 23, 2014, and aims to provide better access to quality drugs and healthcare services than ever before. Option2: Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana is the flagship program of the Department of Pharmaceuticals that was launched with the objective of providing affordable quality generic medicines to all sections of society. This program aims to provide quality medicines at affordable prices, in order to ensure that no citizen has to forego his or her right to good health due to economic constraints. SLIDE 2 The ‘Jan Aushadhi Scheme’ was launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers in 2008. The scheme was revamped in 2015 as ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana’ (PMJAY). The scheme was renamed as ‘Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana’ (PMBJP) in 2016. As of August 2022, 8799 PMBJP Kendras have been opened across the country. SLIDE 3 The objectives of PMBJP are to - Provide well-made, high-quality goods at an affordable price to all. - Promote the availability of quality health services for everyone. - Deliver safe and effective medical treatments for women's genital health. - Create employment opportunities by encouraging local entrepreneurs to open up PMBJP outlets (Kendras). SLIDE 4: The Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMB) oversees the Jan Aushadhi campaign, which aims to promote affordable drugs to consumers. The campaign has five stakeholders: vendors/suppliers/manufacturers, accredited NABL-empaneled labs, distributors, PMBJK operators, and consumers. The campaign is managed by an independent organization set up by the pharma PSUs. The Governing Council, led by the Secretary of Pharmaceuticals, is the highest policy-making body, assisted by the Executive Council, headed by the Jt. Secretary of the Dept. of Pharmaceuticals. SLIDE 5: There is a total of 10 members in the Governing Council (GC) i.e. Apex policy-making body. SLIDE 8: The PMBJP program has been granted an extension by the SFC. By March 2025, 10,500 PMBJP Kendras will be established across the country. Every March 7 is designated Jan Aushadhi Diwas. To motivate stakeholders, the 2019 awards will be given in various categories. The incentive will be raised from Rs. 2.50 lakh to Rs. 5.00 lakh, with a cap of Rs. 15,000 per month starting April 2021. PMBJP Kendras may receive a one-time grant for special categories. SLIDE 9: From April 2021, the incentive for PMBJP Kendra owners has been raised from Rs. 2.5 million to up to Rs. 5 million, provided @ 15% of monthly purchases made, subject to a ceiling of Rs. 15,000, w.e.f. April 2021. SLIDE 10: For the year 2017-18, a one-time special incentive of up to Rs. 2 lakh has been earmarked for PMBJP Kendras. These Kendras are located in Aspirational Districts, North-Eastern States, Himalayan Region, Island Territories, and Divyangjan, SCs and STs are also eligible. SLIDE 11: PMBJP has a presence in all 29 states and 9 union territories of India. We currently have 8300 PMBJKs, but by 2024-25, we expect to have 10500. The product line consisting of medicine and surgical equipment is expected to surge to 2300 by 2024-25. We currently have warehouses in all of the country's major areas, and we are expecting a major jump. We expect to see a 1200 crore boost in sales in 2024-25, up from 625 crores in the current year. SLIDE 12: As of August 31, 2022, the presence of 8799 PMBJKs was recorded in the States/UTs of the country. The top five States/UTs in terms of the number of PMBJKs opened are Uttar Pradesh (1189), Karnataka (994), Kerala (991), Tamil Nadu (842), and Maharashtra (638), respectively. SLIDE 13: The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras are growing rapidly. For example, there were 3306 PMBJKs in 2017-18, which increased to 8799 by August 31, 2022. SLIDE 14: In the year 2021-2022, PMBJP has targeted to achieve a sales turnover of 893.56 cr from an estimated 625 cr. SLIDE 15: PMBJP has helped save over 4,000 crore for citizens in financial year 2020-21, 5,300 crore in 2021-22 and 2,763 crore by August 31, 2022. The program has created significant self-employment. On average, sales per store per month have increased to 1.5 million. SLIDE 16: There are 1616 medicines, 250 surgical supplies, and medical devices, and 23 major therapeutic groups in Scheme Basket. SLIDE 17: Jan Aushadhi medicines are available to citizens at a huge discount, and they can treat any ailment. SLIDE 18: Jan Aushadhi provides affordable treatment for all major ailments. Furthermore, it has developed specialized drugs for conditions like cancer SLIDE 19: To fight against covid-19, PMBJP recently introduced immune boosting kits such as Ayu Raksha and Bal Raksha. SLIDE 20 & 21: Janaushadhi has launched 'Suvidha' sanitary napkins for sale at Rs. 1 per pad. These napkins are environmentally friendly and oxo-biodegradable. 28.65 million Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras have sold these pads from August 27th, 2019. SLIDE 22: PMBJP's has increased its product basket to include 1616 medicines and 250 surgical items. In 2018, the organization has implemented a SAP-based inventory management system and blacklisted poor performing vendors. SLIDE 23: PMBJP's Jan Aushadhi initiative is a quality-assured scheme to provide affordable medicines, especially life-saving drugs, to people. The medicines are sourced from WHO-GMP, FSSAI, and CE-certified suppliers and tested at NABL accredited laboratories. SLIDE 24: With PMBI, quality testing is being performed both at the source level and at approved national laboratories that are NABL certified and empaneled. SLIDE 25: PMBJP has teamed with prominent manufacturers to assure quality medicines. For example, ITC Labs, BP Labs, and many others are among them. Partnering with world-class laboratories guarantees the quality of medicines. SLIDE 26: The PMBJP has established an end-to-end supply chain system with a point-of-sale (POS) application for value-added services. The logistics system is being strengthened. At present, four modern warehouses at Gurugram, Guwahati, Chennai, and Surat are functional. Further, 39 distributors have been appointed across the country to support the supply of medicines to remote and rural areas. SLIDE 27 & 28: We have coverage throughout the country in the North, South, East, and West regions. We have a central warehouse in Gurugram and three regional warehouses, one in Chennai, Gujarat, and Surat. Our distributors cover the entire country. We make deliveries faster and more reliable. SLIDE 29: The mobile application provides the ability to search for Jan Aushadhi generic medicines, locate nearby Jan Aushadhi Kendras using Google maps, and compare the pricing of Generic vs. Branded Medicines in Terms of MRP and Overall Savings, etc. SLIDE 30: People in the northeastern states like Manipur can benefit from Jan Aushadhi's presence, where people can get cheap medicines.
