I know I said that my next video would be about how much I hate the absolute garbage of a car the Honda C R V is, but I wanted to make this video first. The C R V video is coming. Do not worry. This video is about why I'm no longer personally excited about Tesla or likely to buy one in the near future. I used to be a big time Tesla fanboy. I knew the features of each vehicle and could tell you how much each trim of every model would cost you. I've ridden in every single car that they sell, and I rented one on my birthday one year just to drive around. I even bought the Tesla Tequilla Decanter when that was for sale. I'll be honest, I have no issue with the performance or features of any Tesla vehicle., and I love how they have changed the way that people order cars. Buying from a dealer has always sucked. My biggest complaint comes down to the price. Over the years, Tesla has occasionally lowered and raised the price of all their models But as the technology has gotten cheaper and easier to manufacture, as well as increased competition from other auto manufacturers beginning to sell E Vees, Tesla has only steadily and sharply increased their prices. Any consumer can do their own research and discover there are several other E Vees on the market that are comparable or cheaper in price, and better than some of Tesla's cars for what you get for the price, and many more are coming. Once upon a time, Elon Musk came out and announced the Model 3. The whole shabang with it is that it was only going to cost 35 thousand dollars. While they did release it for that much, it was not for sale for very long at all. Then for a while, the only way you could get it was buy ordering a more expensive trim and then requesting a change to the 35 thousand dollar model. Now you can no longer do that, and the base model 3 starts at over 48 thousand dollars. It was even worse with the Model Y., At the announcement, they claimed it would cost about 38 thousand dollars, but it started at 43 thousand dollars when it was released and is now more than 58 thousand. You have to factor in that these are quote, consumer priced cars according to them. Currently, Tesla fans are eagerly awaiting the Cyber truck to be produced and delivered. When it was announced, they said it would start at 40 thousand dollars. You can bet your sweet pahoony that ain't gonna happen. Just now I checked, and they've already removed the pricing of each trim from the page. Mark my words, it will cost at least 45 to 60 thousand dollars when they start delivering. It's cooler than the model Y, so why would they sell it for less than that? They will likely also not sell the rear wheel drive version of the cyber truck just like they did with the model Y. It is just not profitable for them. I don't see the need in discussing the higher end models like the model S or X because those are aimed at rich people to begin with. The base model S now goes for almost 110 thousand dollars. I remember a few years back when Elon Musk posted on Twitter that the Model S would be selling for 69,420 dollars, and that was funny as a meme. The price of the car has risen 40 thousand dollars in just a few years. It is completely unheard of anywhere else in the auto industry to raise the price of your car by 57%. I see this as it's own market geared toward rich people. I am only complaining about the cars that are supposedly for the people with a more average level of wealth. Yet the price of these cars keep shifting upwards towards the rich people market. Even with these rising prices, tesla fans continue to be willing to pay whatever it costs to get their hands on one. Market Watch dropped an article that stated that Tesla buyers take out the longest loans in the entire auto industry at over 67 months on average. Imagine the interest these people are paying on a car that costs at the very least 50 thousand dollars with a loan that long. I guess if you love a car that much you will do anything to buy one, even screw yourself over financially. What really got me opposed to buying a Tesla was their ignorance to the existence of competition. Just about every major car manufacturer has either released multiple E Vees, or plans to release them within the next year or two. I'm talking about Ford, Chevy, Mini, GMC, Kia, Jeep, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan, and Honda. Not to mention the other startup companies like Rivian and Polestar. Tesla no longer has a monopoly over the E V industry, yet they still act like they do. I would argue they definitely have the most refined technology with the most range, acceleration, and Full self driving, but the average consumer does not care about that. Acceleration is nothing but a gimmick you can show off to your friends, and not the main reason that most people choose to purchase a car unless you're one of those guys who buy an old 90s sedan, take the muffler off, and then violently pass people on 2 lane city roads. But these guys wouldn't buy a Tesla anyway because they are not loud enough. Same goes with Full self driving. I agree that it is cool and all, you get the summoning thing and auto park, but aside from that, everyone I know prefers to drive. People tend to like to have control over their vehicle., You say, wait, Rooples, you utter piece of poop, you don't know what you are talking about. Those other car manufacturers come nowhere near the range of Teslas. I know that, but I am not concerned over it because the way people refuel E Vees is entirely different from how we do it with gas cars. The biggest difference being that most people elect to charge their car at home. Don't tell me you got a 200 mile commute to work every day. The range differences is almost entirely irrelevant because you start everyday with a full charge by charging at home. I have never seen anyone buy an electric car and not charge it in their garage. It's more convenient than going to a charging station. The only benefit is when you make a long drive. I guarantee you that most people do not make a road trip of more than 200 miles often enough to justify the price difference. Can you really justify the inconvenience of having to stop to charge your EV on a road trip by spending an extra 10 to 20 thousand dollars on a tesla? You might as well buy a non-tesla with less range, and just fly, bus, or take the train whenever you have to make a long trip, and you'd still be saving massive amounts of money., The way I see it, is Tesla has turned into the Apple of the auto industry. They're very similar. They both pioneered technological revolutions in their respective areas. They both have an incredibly loyal fanbase that will buy whatever they put out there, and not complain about them no longer including a charger. They're both worth more than a trillion dollars. They're both against you repairing their products yourself, and they both jack their prices beyond what is reasonable. I think many people who are looking at buying a Tesla should reconsider all the other options that are out there. Personally, I would have bought a Tesla around now, but due to the price hikes, and other options, I have decided to wait for some in development options to come out., That's all for now. Like.
