Welcome to the church of Pentecost audio devotional. It’s the Wednesday, September 28, 2022 edition. Topic: PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. Scripture References: First Corinthians chapter 9 verse 26 to 27, Philippians chapter 4 verse 13. Exposition: Physical activity or exercise consists of voluntary movement of the body resulting in the use of energy. Aerobic exercise, brisk walks, and biking to mention a few are forms of physical activity. Regular exercise is among the essential activities that promote good health among people of all ages and improve their quality of life. Healthy People 2030 advocates for people of all ages to engage in enough aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity. Most people fail to attain the recommended physical activities, and it's quite difficult for the elderly and individuals with chronic diseases or disabilities. Therefore, they need to encourage people into regular physical activities. Paul in Philippians chapter 4 verse 13 admonishes us that Christ gives strength to do exploits when one lacks zeal. Physical exercise when done regularly and appropriately brings happiness, good body weight, builds concentration, and productivity, and develops a virtue of perseverance. In First Corinthians 9 verse 26 to 27, Christianity is likened to an athletic race that inculcates discipline as a virtue and the reward one receives is synonymous to the benefits one derives from regular physical activities. There is the need to integrate physical activities into routines at home, school, work, community as well as the church to encourage both the young and old to participate. Active transportation such as walking and biking can be incorporated into a daily routine to encourage regular exercise. Prayer Guide: Dear Lord, grant me the strength to subject my body to regular physical activity. Our Memory Verse For This Week: Third John chapter 2: “Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” Let’s go over it again: Third John chapter 2: “Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” Thank you for listening. Do have a blessed day!
