<speak> Coping with Burnout in Healthcare Using Compassionate Mind Training<break strength="x-strong"/> Session 8<break strength="x-strong"/> <emphasis level="strong">Extending Compassion - Finding balance</emphasis><break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> We build on the directions of receiving compassion and self-compassion and address the third direction of compassion, extending compassion. We describe the complexity and risk of living life in an unbalanced way, where we may extend care to others, but do not receive it from others, or show ourselves compassion.<break strength="x-strong"/> Living in such an unbalanced way is indeed a recipe for stress and burnout. At the same time, we have fears, blocks and resistances (FBRs) about extending compassion. There are often risks of being hurt by others when we extend our care without being cautious. We highlight how understandable FBRs about extending care can be, and also highlight the many benefits of being able to safely extend our compassion to others.<break strength="x-strong"/> We highlight the benefits of being emotionally intelligent and supportive of others, towards better personal and collective wellbeing. The core message here is to allow your compassion to flow out with balanced wisdom and care!<break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> </speak>
