<speak> Coping with Burnout in Healthcare Using Compassionate Mind Training<break strength="x-strong"/> Session 7<break strength="x-strong"/> <emphasis level="strong">Practicing self-compassion</emphasis><break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> This video introduces self-compassion as: <emphasis level="strong">“A sensitivity to our own suffering coupled with a commitment to respond to it with care”.</emphasis> We propose that our compassionate-self identity can support us in practicing self-compassion.<break strength="x-strong"/> One of the reasons this can be hard to do is our natural tendency to avoid and push away our suffering, simply because understandably we don’t want to feel our pain. We describe various fears, blocks and resistances (FBRs) to self-compassion, and propose ways to address them. We share the concept of distress tolerance, which is the willingness to be with our experience as opposed to being avoidant.<break strength="x-strong"/> We invite opportunities to practice responding to our suffering with warmth, nurturance and understanding. The core practice we teach here is to engage your whole experience, body and mind, through a caring emotional texture and to offer yourself the compassion that you deserve!<break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> </speak>
