<speak> <emphasis level="strong">Session Summary- Friction, collaboration, and our compassionate-self identity</emphasis><break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> Workplace friction is often caused by threat emotions and a competition social mentality of us Vs. them, which increases stress and burnout.<break strength="x-strong"/> We have multiple selves within us, each has a different voice. Some of them, such as our angry or anxious selves are supported by our threat system. When threat-based selves take over we will likely have an increase in burnout and workplace friction.<break strength="x-strong"/> Our task is to notice our threat-based selves when they are loud, and patiently care for them. Remember, ultimately, they are expressions of us not feeling safe.<break strength="x-strong"/> Once we have noticed and cared for our threat-based selves, we are able to switch over to activating our compassionate-self identity towards collaboration, alliance building and care-taking focused outcomes.<break strength="x-strong"/> We can activate our compassionate-self by doing breathing and slowing down the body, by doing the meditation offered in this module, and also by simply making it our focused motivation to engage other people from the position of care-taking and collaboration.<break strength="x-strong"/> A very important dimension of compassionate engagement is our ability to receive compassion. The invitation is to notice our own fears, blocks and resistances (FBRs) to receiving compassion, and allow ourselves to get the help we need. Activating our compassionate-self identity will also support us with the practice of allowing ourselves to receive compassion.<break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> </speak>
