<speak> <emphasis level="strong">Notice and Switch – Activating our compassionate-self</emphasis><break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> The steps of dealing with friction have to do with first noticing which self is most active, if we notice threat or competition-based selves (e.g. angry/anxious self) we mindfully attend to them first, care for them, and then switch over to our compassionate-self identity.<break strength="x-strong"/> It’s important to remember that switching also happens in the body, not just our thoughts, so it’s very helpful to take a few minutes to do our compassionate-self meditation in order to switch more fully. You are invited to practice this meditation file daily. The multiple selves training video in this module will also support you in developing this part of you.<break strength="x-strong"/> In our compassionate-self practice we are focusing on three core elements:<break strength="x-strong"/> Strength, authority, groundedness in our body (breath awareness helps!), and Stability.<break strength="x-strong"/> Wisdom; understanding about human suffering, our threat system, and our tricky brain.<break strength="x-strong"/> Commitment and a consistent motivation towards compassion in all three directions.<break strength="x-strong"/> You are encouraged to bring your compassionate-self identity to any challenging situation at work, and in your personal life! Experiment with further expressing this side of you and see what happens.<break strength="x-strong"/> Notice how cultivating your compassionate self supports you in <emphasis level="strong">caring for your patients</emphasis>, and in further <emphasis level="strong">building team spirit </emphasis>with your teammates, towards a more enjoyable and resilient day to day work experience. Pay attention to that as you practice being your compassionate best.<break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> </speak>
