<speak> <emphasis level="strong">How to work with your threat system Part two – Taking Active Care</emphasis><break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> If you feel like you are experiencing too much threat, you might do some small things to take care of yourself: Notice your posture, stand/sit in a way that feels grounded, bring your attention to your breath, slowly breathe into your diaphragm a few times, notice how everything slows down a bit, and continue engaging from this posture. Remind yourself that none of this is your fault and be curious about how you can be gentle with yourself right now. Be encouraging towards yourself, embrace a motivation for care, and allow for some gentle warmth and soothing to emerge.<break strength="x-strong"/> If you are dealing with threat – think back to a time you were in a similar situation but not as flooded by threat. What was different about you in that situation? How specifically did you cope successfully back then? What coping skills did you use? Where did you get the strength and wisdom to effectively cope back then? What wisdom can you draw upon and use from your past experience?<break strength="x-strong"/> Rely on human connections, extend a sense of warmth and care to patients and teammates around you, allow yourself to receive warmth, care or gratitude from others when you engage with them. Maintain positive social connections whenever you can.<break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> <break strength="x-strong"/> </speak>
