Welcome to the church of Pentecost audio devotional. It’s the Monday, September 26, 2022 edition. Topic: HEALTHY EATING. Scripture References: First Corinthians chapter 10 verse30 to 31, Proverbs chapter 25 verse 27. Exposition: The purpose of promoting the intake of healthy diets and ensuring the availability of nutritious food is to achieve good health and prevent chronic diseases. Unhealthy diets are consumed by people either as a result of ignorance of the choice of healthy foods, or lack of access to nutritious meals. Healthy eating involves the intake of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. A healthy diet is less saturated fat, salt, and refined sugar with an adequate intake of water. An unhealthy diet also classified as junk foods are pizzas, fries, fast foods, sugary drinks, pastries, polished grains and cereals, cream and saturated oil that have low nutritional value to the body. This increases the risk of chronic conditions such as obesity, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and stroke among others. Society attributes the consumption of these unhealthy diets as affluence and enlightened as such, served at parties and other social gatherings. Other predisposing factors contributing to unhealthy eating are stress of urban living, family life, academic pursuit, and meeting of work deadlines. First Corinthians chapter 10 verse 31 admonishes us that “what we eat or drink and do should glorify God” and some illnesses are a result of our actions and inaction. The availability of local and unrefined food at home and the willingness to prepare in their required proportions promotes healthy eating. Public education about healthy diets as well as seeking information from dieticians and nutritionists will promote a healthy population. Prayer Guide: Lord help me to be a good steward of my body by maintaining a healthy eating habit. Our Memory Verse For This Week: Third John 2: “Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” Let’s go over it again: Third John chapter 2: “Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” Thank you for listening. Do have a blessed day!
