Boy am I pissed off. I wrote the entire script for this video, and when I went to download it, my page refreshed and it saved nothing. Now I am writing it again, but this time, I am angry. Last week Subaru dropped this big unveiling event of their third generation 2024 Crosstrek. I was actually anticipating this for several months, but being the idiot that I am, I did not find out about it until only yesterday. This is incredibly embarrassing. Anyway, the video is just a bunch of Japanese dudes talking about the new Crosstrek. It is almost exactly like what it was predicted to look like based on some prototype photos that made their way onto the internet earlier this year. The new Crosstrek has a different headlight and taillight design, as well as a bigger grill in the front. It also has bigger C shaped things around the fog lights, that are pretty much the same as what is on the 2023 Outback and Solterra E V., I have noticed these C shaped things slowly increasing in size over the years. The first generation Crosstrek had no C shaped things, but over time, the C shaped things slowly formed and are now full sized Kirkland Signature C shaped things. It is like an infestation of black plastic that is slowly covering the entire car like how the dude transforms into Venom in the movies. They're also putting L E D headlights in all trims, to which I say, it's about mother humping time. They seemed to always love those yellow halogen lights that no one likes. The future is now old man, give me those blue L E Ds. Not gonna lie, the interior crocodile alligator kind of sucks. They are bringing over the same dashboard that they put in the Outback and Legacy. I suspect that this was entirely done to simplify production across their models, but I don't think it fits the vibe that they are trying to sell with the Crosstrek. It has more of a luxury feel to it which does not feel right. I would honestly have preferred that they just kept the same thing that was in the current generation and just made the screen bigger. Despite this, I will bet money that we will see the same screen brought to the forrester and imprezza. Another thing they made way too big a deal about was dropping the X V name and just calling it Crosstrek. They talked about this for a really long time, and I was very bored. No one gives a poop about which of those you call it. People call things whatever they want. My mom for example, refers to the movie Jumanji as, Jambalaya. They also showed the vehicles in the video to have an e-boxer engine. I had never heard of this before but it is basically the same drivetrain that was in the first generation hybrid trim. It is not a plug-in system. It recharges via torque from the engine and regenerative breaking. I personally have a first generation Crosstrek hybrid and I find it to increase my range by about two to three miles per gallon in comparison to a regular first generation Crosstrek. It gives you more torque off the line and shuts the engine off when you are stopped or breaking. Sometimes you can go full E V at slow speeds but if you step on the pedal more than a little, it gives up and turns the engine on. I imagine that they have refined this system, but it is not fair that Japan get's to keep all the best drive trains to themselves. Apparently, the e-boxer is available on every trim except the base model. I hope and pray that they bring the e-boxer to the US for this new generation, but that probably will not happen given their poor track record with bringing cool features to US models. Another thing they talked about alot was the eyesight system. The whole point of it is to increase driver safety by preventing you from intentionally driving into grandmas that are crossing the street or constantly alerting you that you are drifting half an inch towards the edge of your lane. They are increasing the effectiveness and capability of this system by adding more cameras as well as sonars and radar sensors. I am really disappointed that they have yet to implement a lane keeping cruise control for when you are on the highway. They're definitely capable of it given all of those sensors, but they don't even try beyond adaptive cruise control, which pretty much every new car has an option for at this point. Overall, I am kind of underwhelmed by the changes they have made to this generation Crosstrek. I do like it more than the current generation, but it feels like a lot of overdue changes that are still lacking in my opinion. Subaru of America has been oddly silent since the unveil, so we know nothing about what we will be getting over here in the Big U S of A., My guess is a starting price between 23 and 25 thousand dollars with all the same trims we currently have on the second generation. I think they will wait to drop a new plug-in hybrid trim as well as the highly anticipated wilderness trim until a year or two into production. I think they could have gone bigger and bolder with this but decided to play it safe. They definitely like to continue to refine the tried and true instead of innovating. I see them trying to expand their customer base to older and less active individuals with the design choices made to this vehicle. They are completely ignoring their main demographic which is people who live in Vermont. Any Vermonter including myself and Adam Driver will tell you that it is a felony offense to drive anything besides a Subaru in this state. And here they are ignoring their main market and trying to sell to people who like C R Vees, Nissan Rogues, or Rav fours. The three cars I notice tend to have the worst drivers in them. I do not want these drivers coming to my beloved Crosstrek. That's all for now. Like. Subscribe. and the most important thing, turn all the notifications on so that you don't miss my video where I rant about how much I hate Honda C R Vees
