Tell me about yourself? I’m Shokoofe. I’m 33 years old I’ve been living in the UK couple of years now. Why nursing? I was born in a family where the support and health of people were very valuable. This issue was such that even the youngest members of the family received preliminary training to take care of other needy family members such as my grandparents which I believe this matter improved my responsibility. I seek pleasure in helping other people. My grandmother has diabetes and I inject her insulin sometimes. Why they should choose you? I’m confident in my decision I believe I can succeed but more importantly, I have a genuine passion for social care I’d enjoy learning about nursing. I work well as part of a team. I’m a detail-oriented person and I think I’m good at biology. I’ve been always open to new challenges. It feels good to be needed. so I’ve done science. I’ve been strong enough to get distinction grades in biology chemistry and physics. Biology developed my understanding of human anatomy. What are three attributes or characteristics do you believe are vital to making a nurse successful? Empathy. Ability to work with others. I am always willing to learn. What qualities do you believe a nurse has? I think nurses have to have qualities such as the six C’S What are the six C’s of nursing? Caring and understanding how vulnerable they are. One of them is communication, I think you have to have clear communication with the patient and what’s happening with them and clear communication with other co-workers so you can work in a team. Compassion Courage confidence Competence in doing that Commitment, Adaptability is key. What does the role of an Adult Nurse involve? 1-Write patient care plan. Plans such as preparing for operations, treating wounds and infection. 2-monitoring pulse, blood pressure and temperature 3- Record the condition of patients 4- Check and administer drugs and injections. What is NMC? What nurses and midwives must adhere to in their practice plus professional standards and behaviours that nurses must maintain. For example Listen to people and respond to their preferences What could you bring to this uni? I think I will bring hard-working and determination to this uni. I think that I am a responsible person because I care a lot and I experience some jobs and I know myself as a caring person. I can assure you I will contribute positively if I am successful. Why did you apply for Roehampton? UCAS match me with your uni and then I’ve done some search and I found out Roehampton have great learning facilities and simulation. This uni has a high quality of teaching and research. That makes me feel confident that I will be given the best support and that I have every chance of succeeding. How do you feel about your GCSE result? According to my mock exam and how I’ve done my exams. I am satisfied overall. And I supposed I could’ve done better and I know I will need to work much harder and improve if I am to be successful at university. Which part of GCSE studies did you find the toughest? in the beginning, they seemed challenging but then after some weeks fit myself into my study plan and it became much easier. And I actually enjoyed it because it gave me the feeling that I was continually moving forward toward my study goal. What is your biggest achievement and why? It would have to be my first degree in science and how I improved throughout the 4 years study period. My personality enhanced and I became more strong. I learned how to make learning plans and how to manage my time. I learned how to motivate myself to keep studying. What are your main interests outside of education? I paint sometimes. That makes me feel calm and relaxed and loveable. I know that happens because it releases cortisol and endorphins. I always try to keep myself physically fit so I have a healthy diet and cook myself. I like to bring healthy habits into my life. I do yoga sometimes as well. Explain how you intend to study during your time at university. I believe I know myself pretty well now in terms of what works for me whilst studying. I believe the study should be like every day routine. I also wrote down key points from each lesson. The key point is consistency which removes pressure and allows for passion. Your question? If I’m successful with this interview and I get an offer, what is there that I can do to prepare for starting in September? most of the modules are practical. Am I right? extra . I saw that informing patients about their treatment and what to expect can calm them In the UK I redo biology, maths, and English to fit myself in the UK education system. Biology extended my understanding of communicated and none communicated diseases. I’ve been always open to new challenges, and I have a passion for learning. Moreover, I had a freelance job that train me on how to meet deadlines, and also I worked with people as clients, have to say that I didn’t get tired when I interact with people. One smile gives you lots of energy to continue. I have lived enough to know myself, and I know what I want and why I want. I’m a caring person who likes helping people. For instance, I’ve had a roommate for the last two years, and I have tried to teach her more than 20 times how to work with the internet. I seek pleasure in helping others with the smallest tasks. I am agnostic thus I haven't done these to be rewarded. I’ve done these in my life because I believe humans must help humans no matter what. I enjoy painting which allows me to relieve stress, and strengthen resilience. I am confident in my decision to study nursing. My determination and perseverance are evident in every task I undertake, and because of this, I feel that I would prosper in this career.
