This is Simplify and welcome to the course "Understanding the Self". I am excited to have you join me in this course that will examine the nature of identity as well as the processes and influences that have an impact on the formation and preservation of individual identities. Numerous and various techniques of complying with the instruction to Know Oneself have been developed. “Who am I?” is indeed one of the questions that everyone has to answer at some point. Different issues regarding self and identity-related concerns are crucial for everyone, especially for adolescents which are customarily regarded as a period of vulnerability and immense opportunity. This course aims to make it easier to explore issues and worries about self and identity to get a deeper understanding of yourself. It places a strong emphasis on the integration of oneself with the academic, contextualizing topics covered in class and in students' daily lives to improve learning and create a fresh appreciation for the learning process, enabling them to manage and better themselves to achieve a higher quality of life, and encouraging them to adopt a more critical and reflective approach. The course is divided into different sections. The first section aims to understand the construct of the self from different disciplinary perspectives, including philosophy, sociology, anthropology, and psychology, as well as the more conventional division between the Eastern and Western perspectives, each of which seeks to provide answers to the challenging but crucial question, "What is the self?" The second section examines some of the different components of the self, including the biological and material components as well as the more present concern which is the digital self. The third and final section outlines three potential learning, creating goals, and stress management concern that everyone needs to deal with. It will also enable you to have practical experience with a more concrete application of the principles covered in this course to help in creating your self-help strategies for goal setting, self-regulation, and self-care. The course objectives for this semester include the following: In light of numerous disciplinary viewpoints, discuss the many self-representations and self-concepts. Discuss the different conflicting perspectives and disciplines' representations of the self. Consider the various forces, influences, and influences that go into shaping oneself. Develop a theory of the self and demonstrate critical and reflective thought by assessing your own personal growth. Investigate the various facets of oneself and identity. Integrate different facets of the self and identity with critical, introspective cognition. Determine the diverse institutions and influences that have an impact on how one's personality as well as other aspects of oneself. Compare one's self to the various components of one's self. Recognize the theoretical foundations for managing and caring for various elements of oneself. Apply the fundamental self-help strategies for goal setting, self-regulation, and self-care. As we go through this course, you might wanna ask yourself, "Who am I?" And I hope our discussions will lead you to your self-discovery to help you in becoming a better version of yourself.
