Welcome to the church of Pentecost audio devotional. It’s the Friday, July 29, 2022 edition. Topic: Handling Your Emotions – Fear. Scripture References: Isaiah chapter 43 verse 1 to 7; Psalm 34 verse 4 to 6. Exposition: The chorus, “there are no jobs in this country” is sung too often that undergraduates become apprehensive about life after school. Senior High School students are anxious about being able to pass their final exams and making it to the tertiary, especially when they seem to struggle with one subject or another. Dad has just passed away. Mummy is, however, not gainfully employed, and you are terrified about what is going to happen to your livelihood and education. These scenarios bring about fear. The Wiktionary defines ‘fear’ as an unpleasant emotion or feeling caused by actual or perceived danger or threat. Whether you are faced with a difficult situation or you have a thought that something bad is likely to happen, God has only one command for you – “Do not fear!” God says you should not fear, for he has called you by name and that you are His. Hallelujah! Dear reader, which words can be more assuring than these? David said, “even though I walk through the darkest valley, I shall fear no evil, for you are with me.” Child of God, hold on tightly to these words and put the adversary to shame. The enemy uses fear as a weapon to smother our faith in Christ and turn our hearts away from God. So any time that fear grips you, seek the Lord through prayer and His word. He will surely deliver you from all fears as Psalm 34 verse 4 declares. Also do well to focus your heart and mind on God’s word rather than the situation that brings fear. You are more than a conqueror! Prayer Guide: Lord, I am assured in your word, therefore I will not fear.
