“I feel relaxed and confident when speaking to a group of people. “Whenever I get up to speak, I will draw one slow, deep breath. And as I release it slowly, all tension and anxiety I feel about speaking in front of others will also be released. I will discover I feel fine. I will feel at ease as I begin to talk. It will feel almost as though I am talking to a friend about a subject I know very well. “I prepare thoroughly for my speaking engagements. I know my sub-ject very well, so talking about it will be easy and natural no matter who or how many people I am speaking to. The truth is that I will probably know more about my subject than the people to whom I will be speaking. So I have nothing to feel nervous about. Instead, I will feel deeply absorbed in what I am saying, forgetting about every-thing else. “The people I speak to are my equals. So I no longer want or need to feel self-conscious in any way when I speak in public. I will feel con-fident and relaxed as I speak. I will focus on what I am saying without feeling nervous or embarrassed. I realize that people want to hear the knowledge and information I possess. My mind stays sharp and clear as I discuss the points I want to make. “As I begin to speak, I realize it doesn’t matter how many people are looking at and listening to me. The information remains the same. I am able to deliver information in a relaxed and pleasant tone of voice. I feel fine whether in front of one person, a few people, or many people. It’s all the same to me from now on. I feel fine in front of any number of people. “I will remember that no matter who is in the audience or how important they may seem to be, they are really just people…who eat, sleep, and use the toilet…just like everybody else. “When I speak in front of an audience, I will feel perfectly at ease. Even as I think about speaking to a group now, I feel just fine. And I will continue to feel just fine whenever I get up to speak before others. “When I get up to speak, I will draw a slow, deep breath. As I let it out, I will let go of any anxiety I feel. And on the next breath I will dis-cover that I feel great. I feel ready to give the audience the information I have prepared for them. I feel fine as I speak to the audience.”
