It is also a day to care about women's rights. The following are some important events in the history of International Women's Day. March 8h, 1908 In New York, 15,000 Women asked strongly for shorter working hours, better pay, and the right to vote. March 19th, 1911 The first International Women's Day event was held by over a million people in four countries, Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. From then on, it became a national holiday in many parts of the world. When celebrating International Women's Day, we should also care about the serious problem of child marriage. Each year, about 12 million girls are married before the age of 18. That is to say, one in five girls in the world is married before turning 18. These girls are thrown into marriage before they are mature. When they should go to school and play, they have babies, keep house, and help raise a family. Most of them live a miserable life, with little education and money, and even in poor health. However, child marriage is only one of the biggest problems girls and women in some parts of the world are facing. International Women's Day is to remember to stand up for girls and women everywhere. All of us should help.
