Welcome to the church of Pentecost Audio devotional. It’s the Monday, July 11, 2022 edition. Topic: Studying To Impact Your Generation. Scripture References: Second Timothy chapter 2 verse 14 to 16; Hosea chapter 4 to 6. Exposition: This week, we are going to look at the topic “Studying to impact your generation”. To study is “to read in detail especially with the intention of learning” or “to consider attentively or in detail.”. The Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English defines the verb “impact” as “to have an important or noticeable effect on someone or something”. A generation is also defined as “all people of about the same age”. It is also referred to as the average period of time between the birth of a person and the birth of that person’s children. Studying to impact your generation, therefore, means to be intentional or deliberate about what you learn in order for other people in your generation to also benefit from what you study or the knowledge you acquire. This means that it is important to acquire knowledge, but knowledge acquisition should not only be intended to help ourselves but to benefit society. Today’s scripture readings entreat us to study to show ourselves approved as a workman who need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. This means that our study should not just be done anyhow, but should be done meticulously so that we can understand it well and also be able to pass it on to others. Hosea chapter 4 verse 6 says that “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. Let us acquire the right knowledge to enhance our lives. I encourage you to study the Bible, your academic materials, Christian literature and other materials that will be beneficial to you and to society. As a student, do not only “chew, pour, pass and forget” but study in order to impact others. Prayer Guide: Lord, grant me understanding into your word and other literature study. Our Memory Verse For This Week: Second Timothy chapter 2 verse 15: Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. Let’s go over it again: Second Timothy chapter 2 verse 15: Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. Thank you for listening. Do have a blessed day!
