Privilege at its core affords those who have two things, access and opportunity. I know a lot about privilege, even though when you look at me, you might not think that. I know of its absence and existence. And believe me, when I say it is a privilege to be here, now, for me and for you. “ My wish is we all realize and utilize it”. —---- pause —------ As human beings, We are all made of our experiences I want to share my experience with you I was lucky to be raised by a strong woman; she had me when she was 22, before finishing high school. When I was young, I remember seeing my mom studying and working while supporting me with my school assignments. My mom finished high school, got her bachelor's degree, and got graduated in psychology by the time I was 16 years old. She wanted me and my sister to focus on our dreams by studying and doing activities that could support us to focus and ensuring that we would not face the challenges that she faced when she was younger. By her example, my mom taught me the meaning of hard work and following your dreams regardless of the obstacles you might face. This is what I was given Since I was younger I have been always practicing sports, “ soccer”, “basketball”, “dance,” “running track”, “swimming”, “water polo” and “badminton”. When you practice sport there are things that you learn earlier in life, such as perfection comes from practice: comes the understanding of what you are good at or not, and how to support your team comes the understanding that that goal is the perfect time and meters to reach take hours of practice. Also, your performance is a combination of your practice and you taking care of yourself: what you eat and drink and how you rest. On the weekends I use to go to church services to serve. It was a lifestyle with a very consistent routine, waking up at 5:30 am to an assignment with my mom, going to school, coming back from school going to practice, coming back for any left assignment, and going back to sleep at 8 pm. It was a daily consistent agenda for my future, I knew since the beginning that I had ownership of my future and my plan was the actions that could keep me focused on it. I have learned the value of discipline, focus, and service. This is is what I built In 2014 I joined AIESEC, in AIESEC in Beira the only local office existent in my city at the University of Zambeze. I joined AIESEC because I wanted to do something meaningful and act of service. In my first interaction with AIESEC, I knew it was a place for me because I saw it as a platform that would allow me to contribute to my community and engage more young people as an alternative to education that people that come from where am I from do not always have the access to opportunities that AIESEC provides. This is why I’m still in AIESEC. I’m telling you this story knowing that my story is part of the many AIESEC members, from every single generation and location. Is the debt that we all have to those who came before us and the ones that will come after us, making sure that the positive impact of the organization continues. This is is what I give I’m here today because I believe that AIESEC will be powerful if we start acting in One. ness Our experiences and who we are as different individuals make AIESEC stronger and more impactful because of what we can give through the organization, to the world. —------pause— In 2023, we will embrace our cultural differences and understand that peace starts within us by ensuring that our Governance is simple and with the legitimacy of voice we will embrace our adversity in policies systems and communities, and we understand that we can learn from each other on how to impact by driving our operations towards our direction which is leadership we will embrace that we have different challenges and opportunities, and these opportunities turn out to be global strengths for us to overcome our challenges through actionable conversations inside the global leader’s rooms. we will embrace that the needs of our customers and partners are unique and make our portfolio and business model stronger and more impactful to the world. These choices were not and will not be made all today, we understand that a part of us comes from our past and today we are choosing how our future will look like From our past, we have inherited Operational diversity is no longer a question of yes or no, but a solution for financial sustainability in times of uncertainty Innovation should be a continuous process to ensure that the organization is aligned with external trends and servicing youth Leadership development ensuring cross-cultural understanding should stay at our core as an organization. This is what we were given One. ness is what we will build by realizing the privilege that we have as an organization and utilizing it to ensure: Governance is simple and with the legitimacy of voice Operations towards our direction which is leadership Our portfolio and business model are stronger and more impactful to the world What we will give: I have told you about what we were given, and what we can build together, my question goes to all of you what would you wish to give in 2023?
