Optimism verses Pessimism The world is made up of optimists and pessimists, and the survival of human beings and our well-being requires a balance between optimism and pessimism. The Optimism and pessimism approach is expecting a positive or negative future outcome. Optimism is the belief that good eventually overrules the evil in the world. Optimists often have the impulse of making lemonade out of lemons, and then to see the glass as half-full rather than half-empty. Now, If you look at this from the point of view of a pessimist, they will go saying that the lemons are sour and troublesome in life and the glass is rather half empty. Sometimes when you look at the sky, and its a dull cloudy day.So what will a pessimist see? But on the other hand, there is the optimist. He’ll see the silver lining of the cloud You see the difference? Let's take the poem ‘dust of snow’ written by Robert Frost as a reference. The poet, was having a bad day. He comes across a hemlock tree covered in snow and stands under it. At that very moment the crow, who represents bad omen and death, sits on the poisonous tree and shakes of some of the snow which leads it falling on the poet. Now, he was having a terrible day, but instead of the snow making it more worse, it actually did the opposite. The feels of pure cold snow, altered his mind about sacrificing his life On the contrary, he decides to forget the regrets of his life and sorrow to follow the path of healing of the inner soul. The poem lets us know that nothing in life is small. Even trivial things can bring positive changes in our life. In addition to this, it also shows that if we take things positively in life, situations do change for the better. Therefore we can conclude that living a life full of hope, is way better than of negative thoughts.
