The year is 1993. We see two sisters, Hope and Harper Dutch, giving an interview. They were a band named the Duchess sisters. Hope was the lead singer and Harper was the writer. They recently reached the number one spot on the country music chart. Cut to the present day, we see an up and coming band of two girls, named Torn Hearts, performing at a local bar in Nashville. Lee was the main singer and Jordan was the writer come Harmony singer. After the performance, Ricky Jones, the band's manager and also Lee's boyfriend, introduces the duo to a famous country singer, Caleb Crawford, who is apparently looking for female singers for his band. Caleb really likes their performance and asks Jordan out for drinks to which she agrees. They go back to his house and hook up. At his place, Jordan sees Harper and Caleb's photo together. Caleb says that Harper's team contacted him for a duet. They wrote and recorded songs but later on, the entire project was scrapped. He also tells Jordan about his label that they were not actually looking into hiring female singers. It was just a rumor started by his label to get a glimpse of new promising female singers. Jordan was disappointed, but she was now more interested into getting in touch with Harper Dutch, as Lee and Jordan were huge, huge fans of the Duchess sisters. Side note: Hope Dutch is dead. So, only one member of the band remains and that is Harper. Jordan begs Caleb for Harper Dutch's address. Caleb was reluctant at first. He warns her about his bad experience with Harper but on seeing Jordan's desperation, he gives her the address. Jordan gets back home and explains everything to Lee. They both are now very excited as this could very well prove to be one hell of a shortcut to fame if Harper agrees to work with them. The next morning, they ditch their prior commitments with their manager Ricky, and goes over to Harper's place. The place looked as if nobody lives there, worn-out, moldy and grass everywhere. Jordan uses the call box and asks Harper for a meeting. Harper was not interested and even threatened them with the police. But on hearing Lee's words about how the Duchess sisters duo inspire them as a band and stuff like that, Harper finally gives in and opens the gate. They get inside and Lee presents a cake they brought to Harper thinking that it was her favorite. Harper gets upset as it was her sister, Hope's favorite. She adds, "Don't believe everything they write in magazines." They apologize and ask Harper if she would be interested in recording a song with them. Harper gets curious and drags them to her studio. The duo sings a famous song of the Duchess sisters, "High highs and Low lows". Harper is impressed and she agrees to collab with them. But she says yes in a very weird manner. Lee gets a call from Richie and while she was explaining to him the current situation, Jordan and Harper start talking. Harper tells Jordan that she is the better one of the duo as she writes melodies and composes music. But Lee takes all the credits just because she was the lead singer. Jordan is kind of taken aback at this statement and disagrees with Harper. Harper adds that her sister, Hope was the same as Lee. She was the leading singer and used to take all the credit for Harper's hard work. Later at night, we see them get drunk and celebrate. The next day, Jordan wakes up in a room. Her clothes were changed and she had no idea, how she ended up there. Scared, she starts roaming around the house when she stumbles upon a door through which she could hear Harper's voice. Harper was talking to Hope as if she were alive. Lee comes and touches Jordan's back which scares the hell out of her. Both of them seem to be confused about last night and their changed outfits. Harper then comes out of the room and tells them that they were wasted last night so she changed their clothes and took their phones and car keys. Jordan finds all of this very shady. Harper orders them to prepare breakfast for her but the kitchen was full of rotten things. So they could only offer plain bread and veggies as breakfast. Harper gets angry and throws the plate at Jordan's face. Luckily she was not harmed. Jordan is shaken and convinced that something is wrong with Harper, she tries to leave but Harper shuts the main door and apologizes convincingly. Harper then takes them to a private room in her basement where she forces them to wrestle a little and let out all their emotions, as this is how she and Hope used to sort things out earlier. Jordan was against it but Lee hits her hard. And soon, the two start fighting. As a result, Jordan started bleeding from the nose. Before they could continue further, the call box buzzes. Richie has come to meet the girls. Harper tells Jordan to clean up and rest in the basement and takes Lee with her to meet Richie. But sneakily, she locks the basement door and traps Jordan there. She welcomes Richie and makes him an offer. She wants to make a new band, with just Lee and Harper and no Jordan. Richie likes this idea. Back in the basement, Jordan finds a secret room filled with Hope's belongings. She discovers Hope's body parts preserved in jars. This scares the hell out of her. Reluctantly, she grabs the finger for door scanning and luckily, the door opens. Jordan overhears Richie's grand plan of dumping her. She confronts Lee about this situation. She says Harper is sick and twisted as she made them fight each other, breaking up their band. She suggests leaving but Lee, who is now blinded by money, fame and power, dismisses her concerns. Back in the guest room, Harper stabs and kills Richie and lies to the girls, saying Richie has gone outside to make a call. She now takes them both to the studio, where they record an old, sad song which Hope wrote years ago. This was also Hope's last song. To celebrate their collaboration, Harper takes them to her fitting and dressing room, and offers them her fancy outfits. All seem to be going well, when out of nowhere, Harper picks up a gun and starts shooting. The girls, especially Lee is very confused and bewildered. They start running and make it to the front door but realize it's locked. Lee finds Richie's body and starts crying. Harper has already locked all the doors, making an escape, impossible. So, the girls go and hide in the basement. For safety, they grab the guns which were lying there. Lee is still in shock. She just couldn't believe her favorite ideal, could be a killer. When Harper came down, Jordan attacked her from behind. Lee was hesitant at first but she fires at her legs, leaving Harper wounded. Harper finally reveals the reason behind all this madness. The Duchess sisters were an unbreakable team. But there came a time in their career, when their sales begin going down. Hope begin working secretly on her own projects. She and her boyfriend decided to go solo, leaving Harper alone. Harper tried convincing Hope but she wanted to part ways. This made Harper angry and she killed her sister. But all of this left her restless and regretful. So when, she met Lee and Jordan, she saw the opportunity to correct her sin. Harper decides to kill Jordan because she is just like her. When the news gets out that Jordan is no more, it will generate a sympathy wave across the media and Lee will become a star overnight. Lee is somehow convinced by this twisted plan as her greed for stardom grows. Jordan panics seeing her friend's betrayal and begins screaming at Lee. Suddenly, we hear a gunshot and a splash of blood splatters on the wall. Jordan kills Harper. But Lee also shoots at Jordan and she falls down. Lee finally understands what Harper has been trying to tell. To become successful in the industry, one needs a story, a sympathetic one. A story where masses could relate to your loss and grief. Psycho Harper killed Lee's boyfriend cum manager and tried killing the duo too but Jordan saved Lee by sacrificing her own life. How does that sound for a story? Lee cleans her finger prints from the gun and places it carefully in Harper's hand and bids good bye to Jordan. Jordan who is fatally wounded, was raging in anger. She gets up and fires a couple of shots at Lee and kills her. They both die. Towards the end, we see Caleb giving an interview. Apparently, his management came looking for Lee and Jordan, as they changed their minds on hiring. They find the dead bodies and the song which these three ladies recorded. They release it under their label, which becomes an instant hit. Caleb lies about how well he knew the duo and Harper Dutch and that he released the song as a tribute to the Duchess sisters and Torn Hearts and many other such lies to further his career. And with this, the movie ends here.
