Welcome to the church of Pentecost audio devotional. It’s the Wednesday June 29, 2022 edition. Topic: Service That Pleases The Lord. Scripture References: Psalm 24 verse 1 to 5; Colossians chapter 3 verse 23 to 25. Exposition: As we go through life, God at certain points in time grants us the opportunity to serve in one capacity or the other. Psalm 24 verse 1 to 2 clearly state that the world and all the people in it belong to God. This means that, whether you are a teacher, nurse, doctor, business man or woman, student, etc., all that we do in this world is for God. Many a time, you would find young professionals who refuse posting to certain parts of the country, especially those deemed as deprived. Other workers also show a lackadaisical attitude through forms of lateness, absenteeism and so on. There are also others that treat their clients with gross disrespect. We must understand that God is in every space that we work. As a young professional then, I remember being posted to a remote community. Though I had challenges initially, I accepted the place whole-heartedly. Since I humbly accepted the people and posting to the place, God blessed me in numerous ways. First, I saved money since cost of living at the place was relatively low. Also, God mysteriously helped me to encounter my wonderful wife from that very setting. Since church leaders were not many at the place, I had the opportunity to develop my leadership capabilities. No wonder today I serve as a full-time minister in the Lord’s Church. Colossians chapter 3 verse 23 to 24 remind us that, any work that our hands find to do, we should work at it with all our heart as working for the Lord and not for human masters, it is the Lord who will give us an inheritance as a reward; for it is the Lord Jesus Christ that we are serving. Dear friend, service that pleases God is one done with the understanding that, whether we work in the Church or any sphere of society, it is God that we are serving and not human masters. When we understand this, our attitude will be shaped and certainly God will bless us. Prayer Guide: Lord, may we wholeheartedly please you in rendering service to all men. Memory Verse For This Week: Mark chapter 10 verse 45: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”. Let’s go over it again: Mark chapter 10 verse 45: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”. Thank you for listening. Do have a blessed day!
