Today we’ll be looking at two different issues for two different movies. The issues that I have chosen are manipulation and distortion as well as media/fake news. As you can see on the following slide, I have listed two photos of the issues that I have selected. The first movie we will be focusing on is the social dilemma. Here I have two questions, the first question being “How is manipulation and distortion used in the social dilemma? – The Social Dilemma concentrates on how strong social media platforms manipulate users by using techniques that create platform addiction. Furthermore, it shows clearly how platforms collect personal information to use it with ads and how companies are mostly uncontrolled. The second question being “How is media/fake news used in “The Social Dilemma?” – In The Social Dilemma they say that media gives off a misleading response and can provide false information to people who can be easily manipulated.
