Welcome to history and its problems. Today I will be talking about North and south Korea and their issues with each other. Let’s start, On June 25, 1950, the Korean war started because North Korea wanted south Korea to become communist, and sometime later on July 23 1953 the Korean war ended when the president of North Korea pressured south Korean allies to drop some of its demands in order to speed the peace process and it was a total waste of time because South Korea is still democratic so really for over three years. Millions of people were separated from their families, at least 2.5 million lost their lives, and they created the world's most protected border. So now you are probably wondering well that was in 1953 are they still having conflicts. Well, I have your answer! Relations between South Korea and North Korea have warmed and cooled since the Korean War. In 2014 they declared “peace” but they get into conflicts quite often so I’m not sure if that “peace treaty” will hold out. Now there probably won't be a end to north and south korea's fighting but people in the north and south Korea hope the solution if there was one to their fighting will be plainly to stop their fighting and be allies. So basically North Korea wanted South Korea to be a communist country but they didn’t want to be so that's how the Korean war started. A lot of people lost their lives and were separated from loved ones and it was all for nothing because South Korea is still democratic. The Korean war is important because it was the first time that the two superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, had fought a war in a third country. So that was History and their problems and this is Chrissy signing off.
