Whether they are haunted forests, abandoned villages, or nature’s doing, there is a large number of places on earth that are downright strange and mysterious. Earth is full of surprises, and we get astounded by them as the years go by. The following are top 10 of the strangest places on earth to visit and where to find them. Number 10. Hoia Forest Romania. The Hoia forest is situated in city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania and is considered to be the world’s most haunted forest. It has been referred as the Bermuda triangle of Romania because of the many bizarre disappearance that have happened. Many people who have visited the forest have reported unexplainable events such as; faces appearing in photographs, UFOs sightings and the feeling of being watched. People who have entered the haunted forest report strange symptoms; nausea, anxiety. They feel very ill headed or get strange rashes and the failure of electronic devices. The Hoia Forest is the creepiest forest in central Romania. Also, it has been called the creepiest forest in the world. And The Clearing is really frightful place in the forest. There have been many reported cases of hearing female voices giggling and breaking the silence. Many people believe that it’s a door to another world. Number 9. Lake Hillier Australia. Australia is home to many beguiling natural attractions in the world. And, Western Australia is famous for its extraordinary, unusual pink lakes that have got to be seen to be believed. Lake Hillier is one of them. Lake Hillier is a saline lake that is located in Western Australia. What’s so different about this lake is – its striking pink color. Scientists suspect that the reason of this lake’s pink color is Dunaliella salina microalgae, which produces a pigment called carotenoids. Even though Lake Hillier has high salt contents, it’s completely safe to swim in it. Number 8. Badab-e Surt Iran. Badab-e Surt is a natural site consisting of travertine terrace that have formed over thousands of years. Located in Iran, it’s one of the rarest, wonderful, strangest places on earth. The orange colors of the travertine formations is due to the large concentration of iron oxide. The two mineral hot springs that are located there have many medicinal properties due to its salt content. Number 7. Door To Hell – Turkmenistan. Darvaza gas crater is one of the strangest places on earth. Also known as Door to Hell or Gates of Hell, is a crater that has been aflame since 1971. It started as a natural gas crater, and in order to prevent the spread of methane gas and other toxic gases, geologists set it on fire. It has been aflame ever since.
