Disclaimer Out of hundreds and thousands of people associated with Motorsports directly or indirectly, we believe every single one of them have significantly contributed to the development and growth of motorsports in India. This film is dedicated to all these people; the entire motorsports community, and the fans. It is an honest attempt to showcase the rise of India as a motorsports nation. This film is not a historical representation, but a research based on perception & memory of people associated with an event at the time, and relevant media coverage. In case we have missed covering some athletes, stories, and other noteworthy events, it is purely unintentional. The passion so Ignited… Now turned into a blaze… That engulfed, burnt and brought Glory. A blaze of glory that spread like a wildfire across the nation… That the world took notice. Can a thumping sound, ignite a passion? Passion that one perused against all odds, and literally nothing but just passion. The passion of this 4-year-old was set to engulf the national motorsports arena And for another team, India was not enough, they wanted to engulf the international motorsports arena The sound of bullet kept thumping in this kid’s mind as destiny had its own plan Thus, the first spark of passion was lit and Bose wanted more… and more. This led him to move closer and closer to his passion. Without knowing what he was doing and where it was taking him. He just followed the sound And then Bose convinced his father to take him to Marina Beach Thus, the sound engulfed Bose…he was no more the same. On the other side, things were being planned for a bigger accomplishment The Second Asian Highway Motor Rally began in Teheran on 7 November 1970 and ended in Dacca on 15 November 1970. The rally was the second in a series sponsored by the U.N. Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE) to promote trade and tourism in Asia by publicizing improved road networks across the continent. The first Asian Highway Motor Rally was run in April 1969 from Vientiane to Singapore. Stating from Teheran, to Dacca (East Pakistan), via Kathmandu… passing through five countries - Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal. Our spirits were high and we were ready to go… The race to victory just started In the meantime, our young Bose was up to something, something that would change his life for ever. Bose demonstrated his act and his father felt proud and his encouragement gave Bose a boost to pursue his dream stronger. So his father took him to Dwarakanath of Scooter Needs, who agreed to take Bose as a trainee and train him in mechanics. What started as a kid running out of class room, now brought him up close to his Karma Bhoomi Meanwhile, Double Barrels team Alpha was set to make their international debut in Tehran. Sixty-two cars from 9 countries took part in the rally which took drivers over one of the world's toughest routes covering a distance of 6700 kilometres in 8 days. As this event was run under the aegis of FIA, the rules were quite standard and perfect. The team which drove continuously for 2 days and 1 night and with a 60-point penalty had reached the final time control for Leg-2 and waiting to punch at the right time. Bose started racing in 1967, dominated motorcycle racing in the country till he voluntarily retired in 1994. Such was the scale of his dominance that he won 2 MICO Rolling Trophies. This trophy was awarded to a racer who won for 3 consecutive years and he won two! Another example of his dominance would be the fact that he won every race between 1974 and 1994, he never came in the second place, but first, every time! Bose with his sheer passion and determination broke the barrier, Hence was titled the Maha Yogi. Even today, Bose fancies riding a Bullet and loves to be remembered as “Bullet Bose”. Meanwhile at the Afghanistan highway So, the team was saved in the nick of time and they all had reasons to thank God Double Barrell Team Alpha disbanded in 1979. Ajaypath moved on to take care of the family business until he passed away succumbing to an illness. And the other two charted parallel paths. Chubi followed his passion of restoring cars for Vijay Mallya and preparing cars for racers and Nazir explored his competence in paper work and logistics to create an event larger than life and becoming an administrator. After reaching its peak, as the golden era in Indian motor racing was approaching its culmination, there was a storm rising in the minds that would change the course of motorsports in India. After this, Nazir Hoosein was about spread his wings to create the largest footprint for motorsports in India. Conclusion: Where there is a will, there is a way. Bose, coming from a humble background didn’t let his dream scare him, on the contrary he fuelled it with his passion and achieved far beyond what he imagined. While Chubi on the other hand didn’t let a significant aspect like the size and performance of the cars that stood against him, bother him. He got down and dirty in his garage building cars that would scare the rest of the competition. Their winning careers were built on their WILL.
