There was a girl named Corin whose mother died when she was 1 year old after a horrible car accident. A few years later her father remarried. She had two kids, a son and a daughter. Corin’s father had quite a bit of money and you could tell that was the only reason she married him. It was Corin’s dream to be a singer. Her father always sang with her and supported her dreams and she loved him. When Corin turned 11 her father was diagnosed with cancer. For two years he suffered trying to fight the disease until he died. Corin’s stepmother was happy because that left all of Corin’s dad’s money for herself. She wanted the money so quickly on things like jewelry, toys for her kids and other meaningless things. She spent the money so recklessly that they ran out of money and neither of them had jobs so she had to sell the house and move somewhere else. Corin was left doing everything like chores, making money, taking care of bills, etc and the stepmother only treated her horribly. She still loved singing and sang whenever her stepfamily couldn’t hear her. Two years go by and her family treats her worse. They leave her all their chores and they make fun of her and she is the only one in the family that has a job. The royal family hosts a local singing competition. The prize of the competition is a scholarship to the most prestigious music academy in the world, the New England Academy for the Dramatic Arts. It was Corin’s dream to go to that school and when she heard about the competition she knew she had to sign up for it. When her stepmother heard about Corin signing up for the competition she said “Why would you sign up for the competition, there is no chance you would win.” and stuff like that so that Corin wouldn’t try to sign up for it because she needed her to cook and clean and do other chores. One day Corin hoped that she would be able to go to the competition. Then suddenly this man. “I am Charles and I am going to help you with the competition.” the man said. “Well how would you help me?” Corin responded. Charles then gave her a special microphone and he said “During the contest sing into this microphone it is made to suit your voice and your voice will be recognizable and unforgettable anywhere. But the microphone only lasts until 9 so you have to hurry up.” “Thank you so much Charles.” Corin said. Then he disappeared and Corin went to the where the competition was taking place. She waited for everyone to finish since she was the last act. When she sang it was beautiful and the royal family loved it. They already could tell that she won and when they were about to announce who won Corin saw the time and it was 8:59. Corin ran out. As soon as she arrived home she realized that she left the microphone at the competition . The next day the Prince found the microphone that belonged to Corin. They looked everywhere for her and had anyone who would sing into the microphone. They tried for weeks to find Corin. After a while they forgot what the singer had looked like but because of the microphone they still had the memory of how she sounded. Corin had heard that they were trying to find her so she went to the king’s palace. She introduced herself saying “Hello my name is Corin and I am the owner of that microphone”. The king gave her the microphone to sing into and prove it was really her. She sang the same song exactly the same way as the day of the competition. The king immediately recognized her voice and gifted her the scholarship to the New England Academy for the Dramatic Arts school and she lived happily ever after.
