2) We are excited to announce the release of our updated Type Easy platform. We have rebuilt the entire program to improve stability, operate faster, and provide a foundation for future updates and improvements. This initial version of Type Easy is very similar to the current version by design. We intentionally wanted to get the first version off the ground and tested before we started making too many improvements. Let’s take a look at a few things that are new: Once you have downloaded Type Easy, just double click the icon on your desktop. If you don’t see the icon on your desktop, just open your file explorer, locate the downloaded file, and drag it over to your desktop. This will create a shortcut that you can easily locate each time. Once you’ve double clicked the Type Easy icon, enter your email and password to login. We recommend that you click the new ‘remember me’ button so that you don’t have to enter your credentials each time you login. This new version of type easy contains its own version of Microsoft word. You no longer need to maintain your own license for word, or, if you already own it, you do not need to maintain versions of Word that are compatible with Type Easy. This version of Type Easy operates independent of any word processor you have installed so you no longer have to make sure your programs are compatible. Furthermore, this version of Type Easy will run on Mac computers! Each time you open a job, the audio stream automatically defaults to the high quality audio stream. On the document tab (formerly the Word tab) you will notice another new enhancement- on the right hand side- you have the option of displaying the client word list. This keeps you from having to navigate to another page to reference the list during the course of a job. If you don’t want to see it, remove the checkmark from the box. You will also see the instructions for this job on the left side of the screen. For this too, you can check or uncheck whether it displays or not. We have also added a ‘Notes’ feature from the document screen. Here you can take notes relevant to this job as you go. If you click the x- your notes will still be there when you open it back up. If you would like to include these notes to the comments to proof box, just copy them and paste them into the box before you submit. To use the proof button, just slide the audio bar to the portion of the audio you want to proof and click the proof button. Your cursor in the document will move to the location in the document. Keyboard short cuts have been implemented for controlling the audio. If you want to navigate the audio using only your keyboard, you can use Control + 6 to rewind, Control + 7 to play or pause, and Control + 8 to fast forward. One very important tab that we want to draw your attention to is the “options” in the upper left corner. From here, you can open a job related help ticket, or you also have the option of opening a help ticket unrelated to the currently assigned job. The foot pedal option allows you to plug in your pedal, test out the functionality and adjust your preferred settings. You can also navigate directly to your typist dashboard from within Type Easy from here. Here is a tool we’re really excited about- Under settings, you will see an option for auto correct. This feature allows you to create shortcuts for words or phrases. For example, if you want the combination of v t r to populate very truly yours, you can set up that shortcut here. Then, when you’re typing in a document, if you want to include that closing, just type in v t r and the whole phrase will be included. Any shortcuts you enter here are your personal settings and they will persist through all jobs until you choose to change it. Below settings, you will see a feature called “send logs”. This will prove especially helpful if your job fails to upload for some reason. On the rare occasion that this happens, support will ask you to use this feature to send us your log files. We will then be able to retrieve the work that you had done so that no work is lost. And finally, you will see a link to online help which links out to the typist manual. These are the main items that have changed in Type Easy from the current version. We invite you to explore the new platform and we welcome any feedback. We will be introducing some exciting changes soon to optimize your productivity and incorporate your feedback from our recent survey.
