Once upon a time, in a far away land, there ruled a wise and a powerful king. A king feared by his enemies for his mighty strength and loved by his subjects for his benevolent and just deeds. Even though his job was tiresome, he ruled over the vast forest and never complained, not even once. “So what do we have here, donkey minister?” said the king. “Well, sir, a fight broke out between the ant and the fox. The ant is accusing the fox of stealing its wheat stash for the winter, but the fox is saying that the hen did it,” said the donkey. “Hmm, I see, and what do you think, minister?” said the king. “Well, the fox is known for his cunning and twisted ways, but, what do I know, I’m a donkey after all,” said the donkey. “I see your point, minister. Let me think about it for a second,” said the king. Suddenly, a drop of rain fell on the king’s nose and he remembered that it had rained this morning. So, to resolve the conflict, he had to think critically and use the power of his mind to come up with a solution. The king signaled the crow to come and asked him to examine the scene of the crime. “Look for paw prints and report back to me,” said the king. After a few minutes, the crow returned and whispered something inside the king’s ear. The king stood up and roared. He charged towards the suspects, the hen and the fox, baring his fangs, intending to strike them down. The hen scurried away in fear while the fox stood its ground. The king stopped once he saw what had happened. “There you have it! Now there is no room for doubt. The hen ate the wheat. Only an innocent man would not flee,” said the king. “The crow told me that he had found the paw prints of the hen at the scene of the crime. That’s all the evidence I need,” said the king. “Marvelous job, sir. Hens eat wheat and foxes eat meat,” said the donkey. Upon hearing what the donkey had said, the king started laughing hysterically. “Even donkeys can be wiser than kings!” said the king.
