I attended the Rocky Point Mission Trip for my first time in 2019 . I had signed up for the build team with my husband and really had no idea what to expect but was very excited. The first day of being on the build site our team went over the plans for the new small house we were to build for a family from the area. It was actually to be built behind their original home. The state at which they lived in was very humbling; it made me greatly appreciate all that God has given me and my family. The family we built a home was a happy family who loved God just like me and my own family. Building a home for this amazing sweet and friendly family was so heartwarming and fulfilling! They had small children who would watch us on the build site everyday and play and ask to help us in whatever they could do. The mother even bought us helados in the middle of the day which was so nice of her and a welcomed treat. On the last day we took pictures and wished the family well. I will never forget what we did in the name of love for our fellow men and women and Jesus. When I wasn’t at the build site I was enjoying just hanging out with the fellow Pantano members in the evening; eating, singing songs, enjoying the amazing beach, and my favorite part was enjoying swimming in the ocean and then that Sunday evening having service on the beach with the sun setting. The most memorable part of the trip was getting baptized in the Sea of Cortez at night. This year my husband and I plan to return, but this time we plan to work with Los Ninos, in which we will work with some local children doing activities and having fun! We had tried to go last year but at the last moment we could not; however, we asked that our deposit go to a family that wanted to go but could not afford to. So our deposit sent an entire family in our stead. We try to go every year because God has put it on our hearts to help in any way he asks us to with our Servant Hearts. Not only do I serve in whichever team area I choose, but I also serve as a member of first aide so that our Pantano members have help when needed. I recommend doing the Rocky Point Mission Trip at least once in your life because once you experience it, you will experience such a spiritual fullness of the heart in whichever area you can provide for! Every single person can help change these local Puerto Peñasco families for the better!
