Welcome to Creative Science In Teaching And Learning Resources And Services, where parents and teachers gain insight in how to use research- based strategies in the classroom and at home. Additionally, you will incorporate your parenting skills into the learning process to teach the whole child and raise whole human beings. The Daily Sponge Assignments were designed with that in mind and will assist you in your journey of teaching and raising children in our 21st century of education. As a former Elementary school principal and classroom teacher, I know how important it is to view the whole picture. We are to do the same for our children. Keep in mind that we all want to raise well- rounded, well- balanced, productive citizens that will fully function and flourish in our global society. We are to engage them, not only intellectually, but emotionally, academically, physically, psychologically, and creatively, just to name a few. How do we do it? Responsibly! We have to intentionally look for research-based strategies, differentiate instruction, and keep our students actively engaged in learning. Research shows that keeping our students actively engaged and motivated to learn improves academic achievement and satisfaction. Students even earn higher standardized test scores. When I taught seventh and eighth grade social studies I noticed how much more they were motivated and engaged when I incorporated PowerPoint presentations with vibrant pictures, movies, and sound. Students even verbally shared that the lessons were more exciting than just studying the textbook. Along with the PowerPoint presentations I included demonstrations, drama, simulations, writings in response to the lesson, debates and opinion polls, ectera. The increased student engagement was enough to award me the Golden Apple Teacher Of Distinction Award for academic excellence. What a time of fulfillment that was for my students and me! The academic trend in the new millennium has advanced to a more scientific approach where data is used to drive instruction and improve best practices in education. Combine these strategies and you will have a piece of the puzzle for learning and teaching the whole child and raising whole human beings.
