Studying business subjects in school can be very beneficial when running your own business. To start, you can use the knowledge to make decisions about what type of business to go into, where would be the most suitable location for the business, the size of the business, and many other decisions. Subjects such as Principles of Business gave me a wealth of knowledge and the SBA gave me the starting point for my business. I own two businesses: ACR Wines and Cards N Things. ACR Wines deals with the production of local wines made from local fruits. Cards n Things specializes in the creation of customized documents and other artistic productions such as cards, corsages, invitations, gift arrangements, etc. My creativity blossomed when I learned to use the computer to create documents. The subject EDPM provides the skills needed to design and create such documents on the computer. For recordkeeping, Principles of Accounts has helped me tremendously with keeping records of sales and expenses and to know whether I’m making a profit or a loss.
