Let's quickly review the first drop down which gives all the information you need about D E C from its history to faculty to administrative staff Contact information. Next up is the tab labeled programs. Here you can access all the different D E C program home pages. The next drop down gives all the information you need about D E C. You can find out about admission policies, and learn about enrollment procedures, transferring credits from other institutions, or requesting your transcripts after you graduate. The Information Technology tab will give information on all the technology available here at D E C that includes everything from Wi-Fi to written instructions for D E C portal and email setup. But right now, I would like to talk you through the steps of setting up your email. Go to d e c dot e d u and click or hover over login on the upper right side of the page, click email, enter your full D E C email address as your username. This is usually your first initial followed by your last name at d e c dot e d u. For example, Jay smith @ D E C dot e d u . Enter your temporary password, temporary passwords were emailed to your personal email account before orientation. You will be prompted to create a permanent password. Passwords must contain at least eight characters and include at least one uppercase, 1 lowercase and one number. Please remember your log in credentials, you will need them later to log into d e c student portal. You can now navigate to outlook to view your email inbox. Once again, these instructions are available under the Student Services tab in the Information technology section of the website. You can contact the I T department by opening a ticket at D e c dot e d u slash support. Welcome to the second video in the D E C orientation video series. We are now going to set up your D E C student Portal. Portal is your web page to access all the information you need as a student. Your schedule, payments, personal data, class information, calendars, faculty, and staff contact information, and of course your grades are all located in Portal. Portal is the quickest and easiest way to see student information. Please check your student portal account regularly. To access Portal, go to d e c dot e d u and click on or hover over login on the upper right side of the page. Click student portal. Enter your full d e c email address as your username. Your D e c email address is usually your first initial followed by your last name at d e c dot e d u. For example, J smith at d e c dot e d u. Enter your password you entered earlier for your d e c email. Once you've established an account, this is what the D E C student portal looks like. As you can see, there is a lot to this page. The first place we will start is the left-hand column. Here are the links to everything you need. Campus Info links you to a course catalog, contact information, and D E C policies. There are also links to contact administration and faculty as well as a faculty directory link. My profile allows you to keep track of personal appointments and any D e c school or class events by using my calendar. The My profile tab also links you to your message center and your personal information page. The next tab down is my academics. This tab also gives you access to your class schedule. Just click on a class schedule and all the relative information will come up including schedule assignments, textbooks and current grades. Under my academics you can also keep track of your attendance record, look at your grades and see what grades you currently have in all your classes. There is also a P D F of your schedule for you to open and print. My account is where all your tuition information lives. Here you can check your balance, make a payment, and view your 1098 T tax document. In the financial aid tab you will find all the information you will need concerning grants, Loans, and scholarships. A link to the f a s f a form is here, as well as a link to the financial Aid department's website. You can also access your online award letter. The My career tab puts you in touch with the career Service Department and all the services they have to offer. Likewise, the student Services tab puts you in touch with the Student Services department and everything they have to offer. You can also find a map of the campus. The last tab is the links tab. It gives you a list of various links for the D e c Facebook page, Twitter feed, and YouTube pages. You can keep up with the latest happenings here at D E C. In the upper left hand corner you will find a home page link by clicking the D e c logo. Hit this anytime to return to the Portal home page. On the right side of the page is a personalize button. Here is where you make the student portal your own. You can populate with various links. For example, E S P N, M S N B C, Fox, and a local weather update. On the upper left of the page, you will find hold information, message alerts, and another link to your calendar. All your important info quickly accessible. Your mentors contact info is in the center of the page. Your hold status, alerts, and daily calendar is always right there on the home page. That is the D E C student Portal, an extremely valuable tool to use throughout your academic journey here at D E C. Please check your student portal account regularly for up-to-date information.
