Good day brothers & sisters, this is Mythic Lord, the Loremaster & I'm here to explain the undead in mythologies, legends & religions of old. Let's begin. Quote. Like disease, there are many curses. But none quite as terrible as the curse of undeath, as having your corpse violated & turned into a shambling horror at the whim of some dark power. For that, I believe, is the worst curse of all. The undead, also known as revenants and, more recently, ghouls, Are the walking corpses of the living, most typically humans, though they can include other creatures as well, such as Aswangs. Almost all religions around the world discuss the cursed existence of the undead, leading to many variants that will be covered in more detail in future videos. The general classification of the undead includes Corporeal undead, Ghosts, or incorporeal undead, Vampires & Werepires. As a group, they generally possess a decaying appearance. As they are already dead, they do not have lifespans in the usual sense; either their bodies fall apart, or they live eternally through their twisted dark powers. As the undead are usually created as servants of higher powers, they are usually depicted as mindless, predatory, or both, preying on the living out of hatred for life itself. That said, more powerful undead beings display unique traits, such as intelligence and self awareness, which only serves to make these creatures even more dangerous. They take a more Chaotic Neutral stance, though the more intelligent variants tend to be borne of the darkness of the soul of the deceased. The powers they display as a race include the draining of life and the use of curses, such as spreading plagues and nightmares or creating even more undead via infection. However, many also possess various magic, mystic & psychic abilities. Some examples include the soucoyant, a vampire that uses Mysticism to gain power from a powerful demon, the lich, a powerful undead sorcerer that may command armies of monsters, and various ghosts that require psychokinetic phenomenon to interact with the physical world. The weaknesses of the undead are just as varied as their powers, involving either burning their bodies to ash or decapitation, both of which are the more common methods. Exorcisms are also employed, usually with ghosts, but can be extended to other undead. That will be all guys, thanks for listening, I'm still playing around with what I want to do here so you might be seeing very varied content, but in the future there will be more structure. The plan is to release videos weekly for now and see how it goes. Again, thanks for listening, please like, subscribe & have a great day.
