According to the latest statistics, recent school years have reported having 1.4 incidents of crimes. These crimes are not confined to a small percentage of schools within a certain area, but includes 79% of the schools in the US. Not all schools are strong enough to handle these kinds of attacks and some schools are very vulnerable. When reviewing these numbers, there’s at least one thing that is clear, and that is there are many essential benefits of hiring security guards to protect the children and the teachers. Hiring school security guards will monitor and reduce bullying at school, provide immediate help in emergency situations, and prevent strangers from gaining unauthorized access to the campus. One reason we should hire armed security guards for our schools is that it will reduce the amount of bullying in our schools. Children today have been becoming more and more aggressive on campus and trained security guard interference could be helpful when breaking these problems up. Of course, the guards will be patient and calm with these troublesome students and they will have to try not to lose their temper, but they must also remain formidable. But with safety guards onsite to identify these situations before they escalate, these high rates in the school systems will begin to greatly reduce. The second reason that we should have security guards in our schools is that we will have immediate help in emergency situations. Because we have so many children in our campuses now, anything could happen and at any time. Whether they slipped or fell, or have a random occurring medical condition like epilepsy, quickly offered help will help minimalize and or lower the severity of these children’s medical conditions. Security guards are trained to be able to handle a wide range of incidents that may occur on a school campus or anywhere else, so with security guards in our schools, immediate assistance on the scene of the accident will be provided. With hundreds of children in our schools, how can we expect a group of teacher-trained staff members to be able to handle it with no possible trouble? And because bullying has been a problem and still is, security guards will be able to immediately help teachers settle these incidents, although bullying is only one of many. Another really good reason why we should hire security guards for our schools is that it will prevent random strangers from gaining unauthorized access to the campus. In addition to protecting bullies from traumatizing other campus students, security guards can also prevent other problems that may compromise students’ safety. Anyone from the street could decide to walk right into the school at any time and cause as much mayhem as they please, and some of the places these schools are located may very well be dangerous, as crime rates could be potentially high. So as previously stated, anyone could simply sneak into the school and do whatever they wanted until arrested. Without security guards, these people may cause many irreversible problems before police arrive, so having these armed guards would be very much necessary. A security guard’s job is to make sure that anyone who walks on campus grounds or into the school has validation of his/her case and authorization before allowing them to enter. They must follow formal procedures before allowing and students from a different school onto the property. And lastly, they must check students’ backpacks to see if they possess any harmful weapons, such as a gun or a knife. With security guards in our schools, we’ll be able to keep students and teachers safe. We all know that safety is a mandatory requirement that must be provided to all students in our schools. Students must feel protected and happy as they learn, and security guards will help with this. Hiring armed guards will help monitor and help reduce bullying at school, it will provide immediate help in emergency situations, and it will prevent strangers from entering the school without authorization. Security guards will help to keep our students safe, so no one feels threatened while they try to learn more about life ad the world around them. Teachers will also be safe too, as security guards will check students’ backpacks for weapons and other harmful objects. Security guards will really help schools handle situations that could result in something truly damaging to our campuses.
