So what does this all mean? By now I believe I have thoroughly hit the idea in that this theme is about how our rights not only belong to us and therefore we must take responsibility for everyone's shared rights as a community. Michael Jackson reflected this theme through the idea that to have a healthy community everyone's rights need to be met and to make this change we first need to reflect on ourselves and how we are taking action and responsibility. Pope Francis Reflects this theme through his words of wisdom stating that we must re-evaluate our responsibilities and care for each other, the earth, and society. The scripture reflects both the Pope's ideology and the specific idea that our community's welfare is our welfare and therefore we have responsibilities and obligations to withhold in society. Now although these ideas reflect the whole of the theme I want to reflect on how we as individuals can demonstrate this teaching daily. Of course, we should strive to fulfil everyone's right to food, clean water and housing, but fulfilling those realistically won't happen overnight. However, that doesn't mean we should do nothing because after all we all still hold these responsibilities. To act we can donate, bring awareness, volunteer, and most importantly use your voice. Martin Luther King Junior said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
