Jeremiah 29: 4-7 "Thus says the lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their fruits. Take wives and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters. Increase there; do not decrease. Seek the welfare of the city to which I have exiled you; pray for it to the Lord, for upon its welfare your own depends." The main message of this scripture is that as a society we have rights to certain aspects and things of life, specifically the earth and its produce, but as inhabitants of society and the earth we must ensure their wellbeing's, specifically the wellbeing's of others, as it will impact us in the end. Being selfish only leads to your own suffering in the end because if we don't work together as a community then the community fails and therefore we all lose our rights eventually. The scripture also mentions that even if you feel the community or society isn't serving you right now you should still serve the community as its wellness determines the health and outcome of humanity.
