one of the more niche counter-protest measures that was taken, and we don’t know whether a private or public entity was responsible, was something we called the "gore bomb" After the release of neurocon technology there was an immediate bounty put out to find a way into them. Even those early Globe implants represented of some of the best cyber security earth has ever seen. I mean, to this day the road in remains private information held by an anonymous agenda, complete mystery. That’s why those attacks remained an isolated incident, luckily. So, a gore bomb is an auto-running executable that contains a terabyte or two of audio and video files. Once the program snuck its way onto your device and launched, it would shut down everything else running on the victim's neurocon and lock out all user control. The warning sign that you were gonna get hit was forty five or so seconds of nothing running. Regular, unadjusted human thought, just like mama used to make. Then it kicks off. Three hours minimum of these files played and looped, no breaks. Your eyes and ears were useless. +If you tried hard enough you could see out over the onslaught into the real world, really it’s better if you just buckle up. After people were getting hit and it didn’t stop, we had no choice but to develop a counter measure. Every night we would get together to desensitize on the biggest screen we could find. We watched all the most disgusting shit. I remember seeing one that really dug into my brain, it was like Never mind, I’m not telling that story. Anyway, watching all kinds of horrible shit, people dying, animals dying, it allowed us to fight through the shock.. Well, It was better than nothing. A couple couldn’t take it. Luckily for you, listener, gore bombs are a thing of the past. But I know we’ll never forget them.
