This story of Lord Krishna is based on true event and always gives me goosebumps because this story is telling us that how much love Lord Krishna have for his true devotees irrespective of their religion and caste. This story is giving us a message that all these differences are made by humans and everyone is equal before “ The Lord of the Cosmos Shri Jagannath Swami (another name of Lord Krishna). So, Let's get started….. Aurangzeb, the most cruel Mughal ruler, during his reign tried his best to destroy our culture and religion. He ordered his soldiers to destroy temples, to forcefully convert Hindus into his own religion. Mughal soldiers used to forcefully marry Hindu girls and widows and convert them to Islam. One such soldier of his army was Lalbeg, who forcefully married a Hindu widow and named her as Fatima. He restricted her to follow her own religion. After some years of their marriage she gave birth to a male child, they named him as Salbeg. As Lalbeg was a soldier, his son Salbeg also became a soldier as he grew older. Once Lalbeg and his son Salbeg was on a war. Salbeg got severely injured in this war and was about to die. His father left him and his mother, as he didn't need them anymore. His mother tried her best to cure her only son but there was no hope. Her son asked her one day “ Mother, I don't wanna die, please save me anyhow”. His mother replied him “ I was a Bramhin girl before my marriage Son. My father was a devotee of Lord Krishna. He taught us that Lord Krishna helps everyone who calls him. Pray him Son, he will cure you”. He thought that, I don't know it will work or not, but I'll do it because there is no one to cure me. He start chanting Lord Krishna’s name. Twelve days passed in this way. Twelfth day he saw a dream in which Lord krishna gave him some 'bhabhoot' (Devine Ash) and ask him to apply it on his body. When he woke up there was that bhaboot in his hand, he applied it on his injuries. He got cured. He called his mother and told her his dream and that how he get cured. This incident changed his mind set and now he devoted his life in the bhakti of Lord Krishna. He roamed in the streets of Vrindavan, composed many verses in the praise of Lord. His compositions like “Ahe Nila Shaila” and many more are famous even today. Once he was in Vrindavan and a devotee told him that he should go to Puri where Lord Krishna is in his eternal form. He can get glimpses of Lord Jagannath during his annual Chariot festival, when Lord himself come out of temple to give glimpses to those who cannot enter the temple ( even today only Indian Hindus, Buddha and Jains are allowed to enter the temple. Even Indira Gandhi was not allowed to enter this temple in 1984. This is just because foreign invaders attacked 18 times this temple.)Then Salbeg visited Puri and pour his devotion in front of his Lord in Rath yatra (Chariot festival). The very next year, he was in Vrindavan and someone told him that Chariot festival is about to start in Puri. He thought that how I'll get there in this short duration, how I'll get the darshan (glimpse) of my Lord this year( distance between Vrindavan and Puri is about 1600 km). He prayed to Lord “ O Lord! Please wait for me until I reach there. I can't live without your divine darshan”. While he was in his way to Puri, the Rath yatra started in Puri. Thousands of devotees, horses, elephants ( those days horses and elephants were also used to pull chariots) started pulling chariot and it started moving. But Lord Jagannath, once again heard plea of his devotee Salbeg and his chariot stopped in the midway. More and more elephants and horses were tied to pull the chariot but it didn't moved even an inch. Pujaris were thinking that why this is happening, why the chariot is not moving even after applying this much force. They decided to pray to Lord at the same place where it stopped. After some time, Salbeg reached there. He was thinking that Rath would have already entered the temple till now, as I'm late. But to his amaze, Lord was still waiting for him. Seeing his Lord in front of him he cried and started singing hymes in Lord's praise. As soon as he touched the ropes of chariot it started moving once again. Everyone watching this scene was stunned. They all hailed “Jai Shree Jagannath Swami” and entitled Salbeg as Bhakt Shiromani Salbeg. He spent his last days in Puri praising his Lord and after dying he was cremated at the same place where Lord waited for him. Even till now the chariot is stopped in front of Salbeg's samadhi to pay tribute to this great Muslim bhakt of Lord Jagannath. This story is giving us a deep message that everyone is equal. No one is superior and no one is inferior in front of Lord Jagannath. Jai Shree Jagannath Swami…
