In this case, the scammers order the victims not to contact their families or friends The scammers tell the victims to rent a hotel room for their own protection and safety. When the family is unable to contact the student in Australia, they are told to send a large amount of money for their child to be released The scammer continues to make threats until no further payments can be made.
