Why hello, fellow living beings. I recently got sick of stupid joycons and finally went out and bought a pro controller, so here is my unofficial Nintendo switch pro controller reveiw slash comparison between the Nintendo switch joycons and the Nintendo switch pro controller. :Music intro thinger: . The first thing I noticed was how comfortable it is to hold, especially when compared to the joycons. Since the Joycon grip is vertical, you either have your hands hanging over the edge or squished onto the grip. This was more of a problem with the joycons than a plus for the pro controller. They could've just made the Joycon grip be at a bit of an angle, but then I guess the buttons would be weird. The next thing I noticed was the dpad. It's souch better than....d...buttons. I haven't actually used it much yet, since so far the only games I've played with it are splatoon 2, and then the pokken tournament dx free trial cuz why not it's free right now. I found that the sticks move alot easier, although that could be just that it was new and my joycons are half a year old. What I didn't like was the weird indent on the sticks. I had some thumbgrips, so I put those on, the bigger ones didn't fit the size of the pro controller sticks since they are bigger than the Joycon sticks, so I had to put on the smaller stretchier ones. That sorta fixed the indent problem, but the grips still squish in if you press on the middle. The r, l, zr and zl buttons were also all alot nicer and easier to push, and felt alot smoother. The gyro controls also felt less stiff. I don't know how to explain this one, but they felt smoother as well. The a b x and y buttons are bigger and farther apart. I found it a bit annoying that they were farther apart, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I did like their bigger size though. It made it easy to press multiple at once, for grabs or counters in pokken. The only problem I really had with it wasthe d pad sometimes took the wrong input. I first noticed it when I tried to booyah in splatoon, but it didn't work. I just assumed I missed the down button and was still getting used to it. But later in the lobby when I was DJing it up, I hit down, hoping for a "beep beep" to play, but a different sound played. And later in pokken, when I tried to take on high stance, my edgy anime boi scizzor started moving forward! I messed around abit just on the home screen, and sure enough sometimes it went the wrong direction. I don't know if anyone else has this issue, and it's not too bad as long as I make sure to press at the edge of the dpad instead of more the middle, but it's still sometimes and issue for me. So there we have it. My unofficial Nintendo switch pro controller reveiw slash comparison between the Nintendo switch joycons and the Nintendo switch pro controller. Stay tuned next time for my 10 (actually 11) subscriber slash subsmiler q n a! Ask questions below! I may do a follow up vid to this if I find anything new to report on when using it for other games and such.
