The name was later changed to Ginger hotels in the year 2006 because there were discussions that the name IndiOne could be a drawback for overseas expansion. The name Ginger was coined because of its prominent association with every household in the country and the scientific benefits of the ingredient. The initial phase of Ginger offered a room at an easy price of 999 per night. The promise was of Safety, Cleanliness, and Comfort. The response was good, and Ginger started the expansion after 2006. The brand underwent consistent upgrades over time and was 40+ hotels strong by the year 2018. 2018 was a prominent year in the growth of Ginger. The brand saw a major makeover; the Lean Luxe. Lean luxe indicates Lean Luxury which also means affordable luxury. The Brand entered the midscale portfolio with the introduction of the concept. Four pillars of Lean Luxe are. Global and Local.
