Sometimes, newcomers to spiritual practice mistake it for magic. Nothing is farther from the truth when it comes to real spiritual practice! They think that, just like in television programs and movies, the practitioner can immediately make themselves and things appear or disappear, immediately inflict people with pain or death, or even conjure spirits to appear and do the practitioner's bidding right away. People often tell fantastic and captivating tales of miraculous occurrences that so-and-so did, but no one seems to have actually seen so-and-so do the thing with their own eyes. Some of these stories are told for entertainment, while some stories are told to control the listener and make them fear the storyteller. Understand this: Spiritual works and manifestation takes time. It is pretty rare for manifestations or changes to happen instantaneously. Manifestations of spiritual changes also depends on the practitioner's knowledge and skill level, as well as their spiritual power. Manifesting results also requires patience and understanding. There is an old Arab saying that goes, "Trust in God, and tie the camel." Do not rely solely on your spiritual practice to fix dire situations, or life-and-death matters. In this context, your spiritual practice should not be used as a substitute for financial, medical, legal or other professional advice. It can be used as a support or temporary fix until professional help is available or obtained. Even though you may have the best of intentions to be of help, you could open yourself up to criminal and/or civil lawsuits should you fail and the other party suffers damage, injury or death!
