THIS TIME, WE WILL TAKE A LOOK AT MY PREPARED MODULE. This is the title page. I used geometric designs, combined together, and bordered to make an impression of parts and particles of a whole. This is to represent the fact, that history is not just a discipline but a combination small narratives, that are important and functional parts, of a bigger story. Teaching the course, I always tell my students, that this is not a course to study Philippine history, but Readings, in Philippine history. I think the students must keep in mind that they have a lot to read along the course, to achieve the outcomes expected of them. Of course, I put my name on the cover, being the author of the module. A preface is actually necessary, to provide an overview of the course, but is not an essential part of the module. So, in this preface page, I have a welcome note to its readers, an introduction to the course contents, where students will have an idea how many modules to expect for the whole semesters. And some tips to make the most of the learning module. I introduced myself, so they would know if I eat students alive, and gave some of my contact details, if they need someone to talk to. Next is the presentation of the course plan. This table presents the schedule, and duration of each topic, and the activities they must perform. For those with a fully accomplished and signed syllabus, I think it is more ideal if you will place the whole syllabus right here, instead of just a course plan. This is my first lesson, Introduction to Philippine History. Those are my objectives and references. All throughout the module, citations and references uses APA format, as recommended in most academic works. It took me hard identifying questions for pre-test, since this is the first lesson of the course, and since the course has no pre-requisites. It think it should be noted, that in making the pre-test for learning modules, the test must seek to ask, and recognize prior learnings, that are valuable in learning the topic at hand, and not questions asking for the actual contents of the topic at hand to compare with the results of a post test, as if making an experimental study. SO, for this module, I considered recognizing prior learnings from their high school social studies. I have here a big question. “Do I have to Relearn Philippine History?” I will get back to that later. This is an excerpt from an online article to motivate the readers. I posted questions about the article, that somehow introduces the contents of the module. Here are the topics. This one is a link to an online video to supplement the contents. I also highlighted some lines in the module, to assist the readers in getting the most important information. At the end of the contents, I have written here instructions for the next activities of the students. It is very important to connect the previous section, and the learning activities section, to make a smooth transition, between the sections of the module. For this module, the learning activities are to be performed online and offline. At the last part is the assessment. This set of assessment, is comprised of different types, like multiple choice , true or false, identification, and essay. It also presents a rubric for essays. What you have seen is the contents of my module, is using the institutionally prescribed format. Of course, as mentioned earlier, we, in the higher education can control the contents of our materials and the activities. Our modules can be created as simple as this … or as grandiose as this. It depends on your creativity.
