An annual review of care and support needs for Esther has been completed via telephone link considering the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions currently in place. Tracy communicated over the phone and expressed her care needs effectively, and she had no difficulties in understanding and retaining information. Esther lives in a three-bedroom flat on the third floor of a block of new flats specifically adapted to meet her needs. The apartment has a wet room in the bathroom with rails surrounding the toilet and a shower chair. Esther has four children but lives with three of her children (Abdullah, Omar, and Uthman). Meanwhile, one of her children (Nusaybah) lives in foster care. Esther stated that Abdullah and Omar have autism. Abdullah’s autism is borderline, but Omar has hyperactive behaviour. Esther expressed that she wanted if Omar could be referred to CAMHS, but she has not requested support from the family social worker or anyone else. Esther was emotional and tearfully; she explained that some years ago, when the children were still young, she requested their support. Due to that request, the children service nearly took her children away from her. Esther explained that the children service stated that she could not look after her children due to her physical disabilities resulting from medical health conditions. Esther reported that she is still terrified of the experience, and she is now scared to seek any support for her children. However, Esther said that she feels that the younger children’s school was very supportive towards the family. The assessor advised Esther that her request would be discussed with my manager and probably shared with the family social worker to support Omar appropriately. Esther reported that her husband (Mr Hassan) has moved out of the house as they give each other space. Hence, he has found his own flat. During the last review, it was noted that Mr Hassan was waiting for deportation from the UK after been released from prison following sentencing for terrorism. However, during this evaluation, Esther stated that her husband has a six-month visa and will continue to his visa every six months. Esther reported that her husband, Mr Hassan, still carries out school runs for the younger children. Esther mentioned that her aunt and cousin do not come to the house anymore to help the children due to the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. Esther’s medical conditions include Fibromyalgia, Hyperthyroidism, Anxiety and depression, Deep vein thrombosis –high risk of blood clotting, Mild eczema, Asthma, Limb Spasms, Low Iron and High blood pressure, which is controlled with medication. Due to the above medical conditions, Esther is unable to complete activities of daily living independently. She has a 22 hours social care package supporting her with personal care, managing toileting needs and dressing/undressing. Esther reported that she also has a support worker from HUGS Muslim charity who assists her with household chores and supports looking after her children for 5 hours a day.
