Welcome to 5 go, the P2020 5G project! In this video we provide you with an overview of the project and its main results. 5G represents the latest generation of wireless cellular communications, providing unprecedented performance, suitable to address the B2B market. It enables a seamlessly connected society, in a smart networked communications environment, enhancing mobile broadband, making possible the massification of devices connected to the Internet and enabling ultra reliable and low latency communications. It is in this challenging but full of opportunities environment, that, in the January 2018, the 5 Go project started, joining fourteen Portuguese industrial and academic entities, aiming at the research, development, validation and demonstration 5G components, and services that exploit it. The project was financed by programs COMPETE 2020 and Lisboa 2020. The project activities were organized along four main domains, two addressing 5G connectivity and control, and two vertical domains, exploiting that connectivity. In short, for the edge domain the project developed a cloud based, splitted 5G RAN, a 5G probe, able to sense the used spectrum by a 5G CPE. Complementary, flying APs expand 5G coverage and a virtualized CPE exploits the common control and management. The 5G Core domain was addressed in three different ways: develop specific components for it, for its management and to guarantee its security. Adding some complementary components, this is the heart of the system. The first addressed vertical, focuses in machine type communications, providing solutions in the transportation, energy and public protection and disaster recovery areas. The second addressed vertical, targets human communications, in the areas of gaming, contents distribution, classes and drones. All these was integrated, tested and demonstrated resorting to the project virtualized computational platform, located at Instituto de Telecomunicações premises, in Aveiro. Since its very beginning the project conducted several dissemination initiatives. In May 2018, when 5G was still future technology, the project organized the 5G: from deployment to exploitation” workshop. Attesting to the enormous interest it gathered, 160 registered applications for attendance were received. In September 2019 the project contributed to the concretization of a car accident simulacrum at Altice Labs premises, where the project contributed with the drones and PPDR components. Besides references and presentations in other events, the project was present in the 2019 Aveiro TechDays with 10 simultaneous live demonstrations. Additionally the project results were documented in a large number of technical publications and its activities allowed several students to obtain their MsC and PhD diplomas. In order to coordinate all the project activity, periodic meetings were conducted, with more than 60 registered persons for the Technical meetings, from the fourteen project partners.
