Welcome to 5 go, the P2020 5G project! In the next minutes we provide you with an overview of the project and its main results. 5G represents the latest generation of wireless cellular communications, presenting unprecedent performance making it suitable to address the B2B market. It enables a seamlessly connected society, in a smart networked communications environment, enhancing mobile broadband, being the basis for the massification of devices connected to the Internet and enabling ultra reliable and low latency communications. It is in this challenging environment but full of opportunities, that, in the beginning of 2018, the 5 Go project started, joining the efforts of fourteen Portuguese industrial and academic entities, with the mission to research, develop, validate and demonstrate 5G components and services that exploit it. The project was financed by programs COMPETE 2020 and Lisboa 2020. The project activities were organized along four main domains, two addressing 5G connectivity and two vertical domains, exploiting that connectivity. In short, and for the edge domain the project developed a cloud based, splitted 5G RAN, a 5G probe, able to sense the used spectrum by a 5G CPE. Complementary, flying APs expand 5G coverage and a virtualized CPE exploits the common control and management. The 5G Core domain was addressed in three different ways: develop specific components for it, for its management and to guarantee its security. In the first addressed vertical, focused in machine type communications, the project is providing solutions in the transportation, energy and public protection areas. The second addressed vertical, targets human communications, in the areas of gaming, contents distribution and drones. All these was integrated, tested and demonstrated resorting to the project virtualized computational platform, located at Instituto de Telecomunicações premises, in Aveiro.
